We just recieved our tickets in the mail. Instead of the receiving the cabin we booked (Varandah deck)we now have a cabin with a balcony, YEAH! Our new cabin is 5178, located on the upper deck of the Pride. My question/concern is that our "new" room has an obstructed view. Is there any view at all when the life boats are right outside your balcony?

I am looking at a Carnival brochure/deck plans of the Carnival Pride. On Verandah deck there are basically two types of staterooms---those with balconies and inside staterooms. So, I assume that you have been upgraded from an inside stateroom. Congratulations on this improvement. You will now know what the weather is like when you wake up, and you will be able to step outside and smell the sea air without leaving your cozy little nest!

I failed to take any photographs of the broad side of the Carnival Legend (a twin of the Pride) when we sailed on her in 2004. However, from what I can tell from other shots that I managed, the view from your stateroom will not be ideal. I am guessing that you will be able to look out at the sky, but not down at the water. It's a funny/interesting layout overall---the staterooms above you are the best on the ship; the staterooms below you have sliding glass doors that can be opened but there is no balcony! So, for an upgrade, you have done very well indeed!

Bon Voyage!

Thank you very much for the good news. We sail in less then three weeks and the unknown was just a little bit scary. Although we don't spend all that much time in our cabin it will be nice to get some fresh air and not feel claustrophobic.
