Has anyone had a cove balcony on the Dream? I was hoping someone could tell me what they are like. I understand they are closer to the water.

There is a review of the Dream in another thread in this section. Perhaps Jim saw one of the Cove Balcony rooms.

Hey Papa, Unfortunately I haven't had the pleasure of sailing in one yet. If anyone has please post some comments. In the meantime below is a video of the "mock up" Cove Balconies during construction.

I saw a cove balcony, but didn't have one. With 2 teenage girls and a wife all wanting to get ready for dinner at once I elected to get a family oceanview instead. These have two bathrooms (actually one full bath and one with a mini tub/shower and a sink) But the cove balconies were on the deck above us. You can see them in this photo
They are not as close to the water as they make it sound but much closer than the normal balconies. If you want a balcony for the sun shine, don't get a cove, as you can see they are well shaded. But if you want to be able to stand outside without baking in the sun, then this may be for you. They are normal sized balconies, just enclosed.

papa55- We did a cove balcony aboard the Carnival Dream on her first cruise out of NYC in Nov.2009. It was a very comfortable stateroom, identical to a regular balcony in size and amenities but offered far more protection from the elements.....a particularly desireable quality for a passage in the Northern Climes!WE sailed into the remnants of Hurricane Ida and had 70 mph gusts and very tall seas. No sweat on the Cove Balcony and She rode out the storm like a Dream!!!

Thanks Billy,
It sounds like a great room. I think I'll give it a try.
