My wife and I will be on the Conquest this fall to the Bahamas. I've heard the Atlantis Resort is awesom. Just wondering if there is any excursions other than throught the cruise line, or do you just take a water taxi or regular taxi. Also, what is the cost to get in? Thanks for any info. RB

Hi rbum, if you'll look in our Caribbean Port Chat section, there are loads of posts about the Atlantis. You can take a cab over without having to do a ship excursion. There is a charge to get into the aquarium, but no charge just to walk around the casino area. If you'll use your "Find" feature in the upper left hand corner and type in Atlatis or Nassau, it will pull up all the posts made. Hope this helps and have a great cruise!

Some people book a room at the Comfort Suites (which has "rights" to the use of the Atlantis waterslide, lazy river etc).

But I believe the cost is just about the same if you book it through Carnival (last time I checked)...unless you catch a special on the Comfort Suites room. Just verify that Atlantis access comes with the room (I believe for up to 4 people) before you book it if you go that route.

And this advice is just "mother hen" talking...take the land taxis and not the water taxis. They really pack those water taxis and if you are seated in the "interior area" and that thing flips.....there would not be a good result.

We went to Nasseu when we sailed on the Glory. We took a taxi to Atlantis and a water taxi back to the ship. Atlantis is awesome and a place you don't want to miss. We got into the aquarium for free. The lady at the door told us we could just go in so we did and it was incredible. The water taxi is your best bet..very cheap.

It may be cheaper, I think it is an accident waiting to happen. By the time they herd everyone on, you could have already been over to Atlantis by land taxi. Not to mention the long walk from the terminal. Just my opinion. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

The walk from the water taxi terminal to Atlantic can't take more than 5 minutes. There were a lot of people on the taxi but never felt over crowded. Plus, there is a someone on the taxi that gives you some history of Nassau. Just a very nice ride.

I can not keep quiet. Stay off of the water taxi. people may have like them, thought they were cheap. but it is an accident waiting to happen. One day there will be an accident on those over packed low riding water taxis. Just remember that you are not in the UNITED STATES anymore where we have rules and regulations...where we have standards and inspections.Where we have safety back up. For goodness sakes elevators are inspected in the USA. We feel safe and think it is like that everywhere. Its not.
telling people to stay off of the water taxi is all I have the ability to do... and I will not stay quiet about it.

I concur with macmom111. Sooner or later we will be seeing a story on CNN..."Breaking News - water taxi tragedy in Nassau - numerous deaths reported".

Just curious if macmom111 or Dave Beers have actully been on the water taxi's in Nassau? Maybe we just had a good taxi but I just didn't see what you guys are describing. Either way you get there, Atlantis is worth the trip.

The last time I took a cab to the Atlantis, it was $4 each way....and you can see a lot of the aquarium without paying anything.....and you can walk around a lot of the hotel...It's worth the trip over there.....Don't plan on eating there because the price of food is way over the top.....spend a couple of hours there and then come back to the main town and do some shopping....Great place to relax.....

Happy Cruising
