It has been rumored for several months that the Ex Carnivale (Empress of Britain) would be scrapped. I just read from an "unconfirmed" source that she was on her final voyage. She was last named Topaz. Can anyone confirm this?

Dwayne,
if my sources are correct, yes, that is true.

Thanks, Raoul. It is indeed sad. I didn't think from reading sources that the ship was in that bad of condition. Another classic liner lost.
Wasn't she one of the last steamers?

Yes, she is currently sitting in Singapore.
She has sailed most recently as the Peace Boat...and was headed to scrap, but at the last minute that particular deal fell through.
However, sadly it is just a matter of time before another scrap deal does her in.
This was as of May 21, 2008 reporting on Maritime.

What a history that ship has.
I would have sailed again on her if I had the chance. I love the classic ships.

That is sad, she was one of the first cruise liners I sailed on. Never had the privilege of sailing on the Norway. Maybe someone will come up with a classic cruise line. Like the classic car clubs we have. Oh, if only I had money

When did you cruise on her Penny?
I was on her last cruise under the Carnival Logo 9-12-1993. They painted over the name Carnivale, and changed it to Fiesta Marina during the cruise.

I want to say it was 1983, somewhere around there. We were on a Thanksgiving cruise. She sailed out of Miami and used tugs and a pilot.
