I have never booked an inside cabin before, but on Feb. 27 they had a great bargain on the March 15 Spirit so I took a chance. My TA told me today I was upgraded to an outside obstructed, from a 4a to a 5a! I am really pleased. Does that happen often when you book a guarantee or was it a fluke? I am considering whether to roll the dice like that in the future. I am wondering what has been the experience of others with guaranteed inside bookings.
I'm jealous! I booked an inside guarantee and was bumped to a 6a oceanview. I was really feelin pleased till I read your post now I'm bummed. Actually we are travelin with a 3 year old that can scale the side of buildings with his bare hands I don't really know if I would feel totally safe. What did you pay and when did you book? I booked about 8 weeks ago and paid 599. a person. I understand that the price went way down. I guess I'll just be happy that I'm going and I got what I got. Sadly for some stupid reason I booked my cruise through Priceline and they don't offer any sort of credit or compensation for price adjustments, my loss Oh well
My son recently went on his first cruise (as an adult) and he and his friend booked an inside guaranty and were upgraded to an ocean view on one of the lower decks. He was happy for it!
My husband and I booked our first "guaranty" room -- a Guaranty 6B Ocean View on the Freedom. At the very least I know we were have a window to look out at the Greek Islands and other European places we visit. But I would love to get an upgrade to a balcony!
It happens a lot on the Spirit. It happened to us. The ship's design affords 80% or more of the cabins to be outside cabins. If I were to book on the Miracle or Spirit (sister ships) and I think the Pride is the same design??? I would book a guarantee cabin. Odds are you will get upgraded to an oceanview. This is the "perk" you get for booking early when the gaurantee bookings are still available.

weinergirls, no reason to be jealous, the previous poster stated they were upgraded from an inside guarantee 4A to a 5A which is a port hole cabin usually in the front of the ship, which is a nice upgrade. You on the other hand was upgraded from a 4A inside guarantee to a 6A full oceanview cabin..you actually got the better upgrade.

Not to worry, there is no way a 3yr old can open the doors, I'm 6'1 220lbs and it takes alot of effort for me to open it. Also on most ship the latch is at the very top of the door and out of reach...
Thank you Carol, I thought that was a balcony. Okay feel better already! I am so excited about getting a window, I think I have about 8 days to go till I leave. I havn't been on a vacation in 5 years! I am looking at a cruise this summer out of Florida. It has been so fun preparing for this cruise I can't wait to do it again. When do you think is the best time to start thinking about booking for a July cruise (best price)? Right now Delta has a round trip flight from San Diego to Florida for 200.$ I don't think it will get better than that. I am thinking I better take advantage of that now! I appreciate anyones experienced input. I hated to see the price of the cruise go down so low after I booked, I'd like to take advantage of the lower prices next time. And let me throw one more question out there.. I live near San Diego hence the Mexican Riviera is easy, is it worth it to fly to Florida for the cruise experience out of the coast there? I've always been intrigued by the pictures of the clear blue ocean. I don't expect to see those blue waters in the Mexican Riviera. Thanks again everyone! I've learned so much by finding this website!
If you are looking at a July sailing I would start booking now. Those prices seem to go up not down since it is prime sailing season with school being out and more families are sailing. Can't really say about the Mexican Riviera since I have not had the pleasure of sailing there, but I know that Carnival Pride does have some great prices and when you consider adding the flights to the booking you might be better off looking at those if you want to save money. Or you could look at Galveston TX, great prices going out of there on the western Caribbean.
I've only been through the Caribbean once and it wasn't in summer so I don't know how hot it gets; but the Mexican Riviera in July is almost unbearable.
