If you used a Carnival Vacation planner, just call and ask them or get your travel agent to. They might not tell you, depending on how quick the ship is filling up.

Obviously the cruise line reps have the best overview of it. Sometimes you can get a sense for it by going to an on-line booking service and go through the motions of making a booking which will show you most of the available cabins. Note that this won't necessarily show ALL open cabins since many are booked in blocks by groups and agencies. Cruise ship bookings can be a very dynamic thing prior to the final payment due date, which is when things settle down as people will start losing money if they cancel.

You can also use Carnival's on line web and find out. As the sailing gets closer the room fill up. Then, they usually block it off about two weeks before sailing.

They may do some upgrading earlier, but it is when they start finalizing groups that upgrades start happening more. This is around 60-75 days before the cruise.
