Tell me about the Conquest

We are considering the Conquest in May 07. But are also considering Royal Caribbean. We sail out of Galveston, so it would be the Rhapsody of the Seas, I believe. All you veteran cruisers give me your detailed opinions on both of these ships. Staterooms, food, service, over all. Our cabin on the Ecstasy was great, really big, and big bathroom. I think RC has smaller. We would really like to go with a balcony for this cruise, but may stick with Oceanview because of the cost difference. Please help me out!! Thanks!

I've cruised on the Conquest twice. Both times out of New Orleans. The staterooms are bigger than what you had on Ecstasy, with a sligtly differnt layout (bigger countertop/desk) and the bathrooms are bigger. Plus MORE storeage space. The balcony rooms have the same layout as the oceanview, so you wouldn't be out any space, just a balcony. I love them myself (balconies that is). A nice "private" place once the kid falls asleep (nudge, nudge).

I'd go on the Conquest again for any reason whatsoever. All my wife has to do is say the word.

Annies...it really depends on what your main preferences are. You will like the pools and pool decks better on Rhapsody. You'll most likely like your cabin better on Conquest. If no preference, go with the best price!

I looked at the deck plans and the layout of the Rhapsody. It seems to me that the dining room and maybe some of the other closed in areas are a little more "wide open", like tall ceilings etc. We were told that the Royal Caribbean ships are more elegant, with chandeliers etc. This doesn't mean much to me. I really prefer a large room, big bathroom, and really good food. We were very pleased with our room on the Ecstasy last week. It was a cabin with port holes, and was a nice size. The bathroom was great compared to the one on the Celebration. The one there was really small. I think the cabins on the Carnival ships are over all larger than Royal Caribbean....am I correct?

The food on the Ecstasy was mostly ok, some really great, some just ok. But of course, I'm not complaining, because there is food everywhere that is totally wonderful!

Elegance can be real hard to define..I would say that Rhapsody is more "refined elegance" but Carnival ships definitely have more "bling-bling", which many can construe as elegant also. Carnivals cabins are slightly larger. With Conquest being a newer and larger ship, for the same money, I'd go with it. There is nothing wrong with Rhapsody either. You'll enjoy either one.

I vote with going with the best price.

If the small differences between them won't affect your cruise...go for the money!!

My votes for best price as well but we found our Conquest oceanview room to be very "roomy" and has a great time without one complaint!
