I can confirm this is true via a CCL source. Not that I didn't trust the Metro New Orleans News, or LHP.

I guess they are playing it on the safe side about this. The article said this could cost the city up to one million in lost revenue.

I talked to my PVP today (booking the Fantasy) and he said Carnival made about 2,000 calls last night.

They had another oil spill yesterday (Saw it in the news) So I'm sure that they being forced to move it again. This has got to be costing CCL a fortune to move those people around. I wonder if Mobile has enough parking to allow people coming from the east just to drive to Mobile instead? That would save bus travel time for them.
What a night mare. BUT on the good news side of this, CCL is proving that they can run a Fantasy class ship from Mobile....

I understand that the barge company is responsible for the money spent on cleanup. I do not know if they are responsible for the costs incured by Carnival. I am sure the cruise line is insured or they will have legal recourse against the barge company. By the time this is over with the lost fees at the port, the delayed shipments, the idle freighters, the costs incured by the local waterboards, the cleanup, it's going to be expensive.

I heard a Coast Guard interview on WWL radio this morning. There are currently divers working to attach customized hooks (that arrived this a.m.) to the barge. The hooks will be used by a giant crane to partially lift and stabilize the barge. The oil will be off-loaded and the empty barge removed. No firm timetable yet but they do see the light at the end of the tunnel.
