My wife and I plus our 23 year old daughter will be cruising on the carnival conquest Sept.3 2006. We have a balcony room on the Upper deck. Is this a "noisy deck"? We will be in room 6419. We are sooo looking forward to this cruise. We have many questions in the near future for the elite cruisers. Thanks for any info. for these first time cruisers.

We haven't been on that ship, but in the 16 cruises we've taken, we have had various rooms on various decks on various ships. I have not had a room that I would consider noisy. Maybe hear a few people walking up and down the hall that have had a little too much to drink. Lately, we have booked balconies. At night, I always open the door. I love the smell of the ocean air, it keeps the room from being too cold, and the sound of the ship moving through the water is soothing to me. I probably haven't helped much, but maybe someone who has been on the Conquest can answer your question. I really don't think you'll have any problems. Enjoy your cruise!!
We just came back from the Conquest. Our stateroom was @ upper deck 6248. The room is right above the Toulouse-Lautrec Launge. We were able to sleep even though we are able to hear the performance & the cheers/laughters clearly. If you prefer quiteness, change your booking to Empress Deck.
We've cruised Conquest twice now. First time in cabin 7258 (cat 11, sweet!) then again in 8346. It looks like you are right over the Promenade, which should be OK for noise, it's not too chaotic after hours (after the dinner crowd). There is an evening parade on the last night though, about 11:30ish I think.
We cruised in January in cabin 6256 right over the lounge. I'm a light sleeper but was not disturbed by the noise. I believe where your cabin is located, you should be ok. Conquest is beautiful ship and we had a wonderful time.
Smackman--this is exactly why I always travel with a tiny fan like they use in the nail shops. Brand name on mine is "Windy". It makes enough noise to camoflauge outside noise but not so much as to be obnoxious. Have a great cruise!

got rum punch?
Thanks so much for all the information!! I do have a small fan I will bring now. Does anyone know if the conquest has a night where you can see the cooks and food preparation behind the scenes? Any more advice to make our first time cruise a big success is welcomed!
I'm not sure what each ship does but I know that most will have a galley tour. Look for it in the Capers or ask at the Pursers desk as soon as possible-they do limit the number of participants on some ships. Hope this helps!

We took the galley tour, it was interesting, but the cooks were all in hiding. There were things on display that were being prepped for the midnight gala buffett (ever seen a 2 ft high chocolate bunny??).
One thing I'd advise is take a pair of jeans and a golf shirt in your carry on. With the Conquest's size, there is a chance that all your luggage (small, but it's there) may not get to your stateroom before dinner, with something decent in the carry-on, you'll avoid a grungy look in the dining room. Also the ladies may want to consider carrying on their bathing suits for the pool while the ship is still docked, for the same reason. My daugher now wears her under her clothes for embarkation, and is in the pool before I've got a drink in my hand.
oh... Monet or Renoir ding room?
