A thing mostly of the past. Only Cunard that I know of still offers single rates, and no other cruise line other than Carnival has had a single share program (end up with a stranger in the cabin). But Carnival recently ended their single share program in November of 2002. There may be a cruise line out there, but I would suggest looking for a fourth.

I am going on my first cruise in Sept - with 2 friends =- We are going on the Cunard's caronia - We we offered a D Class cabin for 3 at £1100 (approx) per person or a double @ 799 pp plus a single at £1189 (note this is pounds sterling as I am based in the UK)

Other cruise lines vaguely mentioned a 3rd sharing in their brochers, (spellings wrong here!!) but no info.

Just about all cruise lines will allow you to book a cruise as a single, but the rate for the cruise ticket will usually be one and a half to two times the double rate. (Port charges and taxes will not be doubled)
Which cruise line are you sailing on? If it is Carnival, they may have a category 1A stateroom available which might not be too expensive for your friend booking as a single. Bobby

I know my friend could book a 1A cabin with carnival for less than what we were paying for pp for a double.
