I am thinking of booking a cruise aboard the Carnival Legend and I note that Cat 5A offers a french door cabin-can anyone tell me exactly what a French Door cabin is?

Are you sure about a "French Door" cabin? I have heard them say French Door Oceanview Window but I'm not sure exactly what that means either. The cabin pictures shows just the big picture window type oceanview to me. Anyone else traveled in one of these? I am book on the Spirit in a French Door OceanView too, but I'm not expecting anything more than a window.

Jim

The reason I'm asking is because I saw the same photos on Cruise Stateroom.com-as you say all i saw was a conventional oceanview!

I just returned from the 8 day southern cruise on the Legend.I had a cat 5 french door cabin. cabin # was 4140,the french door's are double door's but only the one on the right open's.if you pick a cabin that is between the life boat's you will have a good view. The service and food were excellent, I would highly recomend this ship.It was a very nice cruise. If you have a brochure look at the balcony cabin picture and your room will be exactly like that. Very cool... So it opens onto what? Is there a shared veranda deck outside? Just curious. We got "upgraded" but it is an obstructed view "French Door Oceanview" Which I have never been in, so I am not sure what to expect. If we can go out side the cabin to see stuff, I'm really happy.

You cannot go outside. There is a railing about a foot away from the french door.It is nice to be able to open the door and have fresh air if you want. The cabin's are quite large.Tom

A french door cabin is sort of like a balcony a door but you can't go out on to anything. Some have a lifeboat right infront of your view, but unlike an ocean view, which has a picture window you can open the door to get fresh air.
