My GF and I have been on several cruises with Carnival and the main reason we started sailing with CCL is the fact that they did offer a topless deck to get away from all the kids. I am not happy that they removed the topless deck and there is hardly any effort put into removing the children from the Adult Only hot tubs.

I was told by a customer service person in CCL that Carnival is going to a more family oriented type of cruise. I understand their choice, but we need places to get away from it all also and that deck was a saving grace for us. Not all families consist of people who have kids. On every ship I have been on they have had deck chairs available at any time (maybe not right next to the pool), but if they are using deck chair issues as the cause of this, that is just not going to solve any problems since ppl will not walk all those stairs just to find a deck chair up there. Heck they usually don't even walk to the back of the boat where there are always deck chairs one floor above the rear pool. The topless deck on some ships can only be accessed by going through the basketball court, you have to want to find it to find it. I do not understand why a pair of breasts can make some people uncomfortable. Maybe the next thing to go is the Adult Only hot tubs or maybe they will allow kids into the casino also. I know we can't (and don't want to) go into Camp Carnival and hang out, so why can't we have an area where kids can't go.

Please voice your concerns in here and also write Carnival with your complaints about this issue.

Doug

The removal of the topless deck really has no "bearing" on me. But seriously, I don't like to go to an area that is suppose to be kid-free and have kids all around.
I have seen Carnival REMOVE children from the adult-only hot tubs. Maybe they are going to enforce that rule more now that the topless deck is gone. Here's hoping.

In all of my Carnival cruises, I've probably only seen two, maybe three decent pairs so their decision is not the end of the world. I do hope that they use the new area for adult-oriented activities and step up enforcement of the adults-only hot tubs as a trade-off. Adding a few adults only hot-tubs and sunbathing area in place of the topless deck would be reasonable, maybe even another bar!

I agree with the above post. an adult only area inplace of the topless deck. I dont care if it's topless or not just a place to go to get away from the kids.

And there is a good point mentioned above about the Camp Carnival as well. would those kids want us old fogies crashing their party?

CARNIVAL we need a place to get away from the kids. its bad enough I cant even enjoy the pool without seeing push off matches on the wooden divider between the shallow and deep end. unsupervised kids are all over the place running around. Ive even seen them Cannonballing into the Hot tub. I thought that hot tubs were not healthy for people under the age of 14?...

For some reason, enforcement and consistancy has not been Carnival strong suit on some of their "regulations". But then, perhaps we have not "stressed" the importance of both to "Uncle Bob".

I have two words.... COMMENT CARDS!!!

However, I do wish they had waited to inact the new policy until after our spring break cruise on the Holiday! I've never been on a cruise during spring break but many have said there are many college girls, and their moms using the topless deck during that time. Now, I'll never know!

I applaud Carnival for their decision to remove the topless deck.

I would believe that to be the case.

My husband and I managed to book a cruise (on the Holiday, as a matter of fact) during college spring break week, by sheer accident. It simply didn't occur to us that it might be that week. It was a 4-day (Mon. to Fri.) cruise out of Los Angeles some years back, and we were surprised at the number of college-age passengers.

Well, no problem, we thought -- we have two young adults of our own and tend to like them!

However (you knew there had to be a 'however' didn't you?), it turned out to be the worst cruise we've ever experienced. The drunkeness, and the accompanying obnoxious behavior, was at least 100 times more prevalent than any cruise we've been on before or since.

Anyway, to your point. The bearing of breasts did not isolate itself to the topless deck on that cruise. Hubby and I like to dance, so we frequented the dance club on the ship in the evenings. More than once we would be dancing and a girl next to us in a halter-top dress would be dancing with some guy and simply reach up and untie the halter and let her top drop to her waist. She would keep an eye out and if it looked like one of the bartenders saw her, she would quickly tie it back up.

I really don't like this kid bashing. In my opinion kids are the reflection of their parents and it is not the Cruise lines responsibility to look after the kids. But kids are part of our society and they have the same right to be on board as everyone else. I'll be taking my kids, but trust me, they won't be running around wild without me knowing it.
