After seeing the "film" on the Crown Princess of the thugs that took over the Atrium and Lido on the last night...sadly, no cruiseline is immune any more. Well...maybe Crystal... : )
Jim~ I'm not sure if it's the same on Carnival as RCCL, but having to be 21 is not the policy. The only requirement is that there is at least one person in each room that is at least 25 years of age- and they don't have to be their guardian.
We chose ROYAL CARIBBEAN'S Voyager of the Seas for our first cruise out of all the other cruise lines and we had such a fabulous time that we will be cruising RCCL again soon. Thir ships are easily the the most beautiful in my opinion that is!!
Wiseto(2)you, I see where you were writing about the differences, etc. in compared to Triumph and Adventure of the Seas.
I have not been on the Adventure as yet, but just got off the Trimph this spring, and we found it to be a great ship in many ways.
Have you, or anyone reading this been on the Serenade of the Seas ship? We are planning on going this coming spring to one of the islands, which is St. Lucia, which I visited several years ago, and "can't wait" to get back. I know Carnival has an older ship that goes that direction, but we would prefer a newer ship, and I understand that the Adventure or Serenade both go that direction.
I would appreciate any feedback on either of those ships.
MissJess: Carnival has relatively the same policy you described. Someone in the cabin has to be over 25, OR the room has to adjoin parent or guardian...at least that is my understanding. We had to do the room shuffle when making reservations for 14 family members between past guest, military discounts, and first time cruisers..let alone the ages. It'll be a feat to get it changed around after we board I am sure!

brneyes: Since you have already had a Carnival experience, I would definitely try a RCCL cruise. I am looking forward to going on a Voyager or better class RCCL, but the ports are going to have to be different..perhaps Meditteranean. Believe it or not, some of the Caribbean ports are getting old with most being SS-DI. LOL

I don't doubt they were young and that they were loud and annoying. But they have to be 21 to book a cruise. And to have someone under 21 in your cabin, you have to be a legal guardian, so they were probably older than they acted.
Hubby and I, by complete and utter brain-fart, once booked a 5-Day cruise the week of college Spring Break. Are you absolutely certain that there has to be a legal guardian if one of the passengers is under 21? There were a lot of 18-22 year olds, and we were told (by them -- one of them was our son's roommate's girlfriend) that each room had to have a "chaperone" who was at least 25 years old. 25 years old!!! So, basically, a 21-year-old college girl's boyfriend.
Yikes!
It was just the worst cruise ever for us -- before or since. Too many drunken youngsters....they absolutely took over all the dance clubs, karaoke....it really wasn't much fun for anyone that wasn't in their age group and drunk.
The policy is if everyone in the cabin is not 21 or order than there must be someone 25 or older in the room. If someone under the age of 21 isn't traveling with their parent, then a parental consent form must be signed. A chaperone 25 or older also signs the form and takes responsibility.
