IslandCruz,
I usually use a travel agent, and I always get a quote from at least three agents from the same travel agency (different office locations). I usually also get three different prices and I go with the lowest price. But now that I think about it the one that was a few bucks more also included a bottle of wine in my cabin when I arrived, Darn,, and I don't even drink, that explains why I went to the agent that was about 30 bucks less. But IslandCruz I just wanted to book it once on my own, I actually got it for about 100.00 less than the agents I had look into it for me. But I will use agent next time, I will feel better picking up documents from agent instead of praying my mail person don't deliver them to the wrong address. Speaking of mail I have about 5 pieces of mail I have to return to mail person because they delivered it to my home with an address far away from me, but we all make mistakes. Have a safe and happy cruise all!!!!!

Hey Deege,
I book my own with Carnival also and usually save money over their advertised fares. Sometimes it has to do with unpublished specials etc. Example hypothetical In Sunday Newspaper a local Travel Agency is advertising 5 day Carnival Cruise from $259. I call the people and get the quote for $259, I call Carnival and ask the best they can do for me with Specials or Special Rate Codes..I get $229.

You should look for a good TA though like h2o has that will look after you that way as a long term Client, not a one time customer. They are out there, just takes some weeding out. Don't be intimidated by them, and tell them YOUR expectations if they want your business. I also reccomend doing your research before you go in or call. Travel Agents are a great asset to teach and educate and point you in the right direction. If you know your direction and want to shop for prices for educational purposes, I can suggest:

http://vacationstogo.com

Take a few figures in with you, you never know they might have deals too. It is the un-armed, and un-educated about cruises type person that gets humm..you know the word

Best to You,
IslandCruz

Just booked 5 day western caribbean. I always book online. Checked with vacations to go, cruisecheap.com and cruisesonly. Cruises only gave me the best deal. Saved the processing fee and an additional $10. It was already a great deal so I feel good about it. Don't know much about Elation but it's a 4star ship. Taking my two eight year old grandchildren by myself.

At least officially, any agent is supposed to have access to that $229 price too, not just Carnival's rep. I say this based on the "no rebate" policy Carnival started enforcing on 1/1/2005 where X cabin is supposed to be offered for the same price regardless of who books it. Of course, there are exceptions.

I'm glad I've found someone going on Elation. Hope you have a great time. Have you been on that ship before?
