I've been reading a lot of the Carnival Conquest reviews and noticed that a lot of people think the food is bad. We're not really picky eaters but this makes me worry. Is the food really that bad?
And also, can you bring water and pop on board? I was thinking about bringing a backpack full of just bottled water and pop but wasn't sure if they have a policy on this like they do on Alcohol.
gosh these people that rave about bad food probably live on Mc Donalds burgers I have never had a bad Meal on any of the cruise,s I have been on, you may bring soda and water on board we have in the past, you can either check in luggage or carry on
while I can't speak for the food onboard "Carnival Conquest", my experience with Carnival has been that their food is very good for a mass-market line. I definitely considered it to be better than the food on Royal Caribbean!
No I dont think its bad. However on many ships I think your expectations are raised and when it comes to the food part......well the food is always visually pretty.....especially the derserts....but it's not like eating at your favorite steak house or whatever...
Breakfasts on Carnival in the bufett leave a lot to be desired. The basic problem is that it is luke warm at best. Scrrambled eggs are from powdered eggs etc. You can get real eggs if you stay in line for 5 minutes, or if you are like me 10 minutes because I was behind an old lady who chewed out the cook for breaking the yoke on one of her 4 eggs so he had to start over again!
I had some excellent club sandwiches, and the hot dogs/hamburgers are not that bad.
you can bring water and pop and i would suggest that unless you want to pay 44.00 for a drink card. you can even bring alcohol in limited amounts.
We just cruised the Conquest in January. The food is excellent in the dining rooms. We ate every evening meal there. We tried the buffet during the day the 1st day at sea and after that our whole party ate in the other dining room. The lines were long at the regular meal times. In the dining room, at lunch, you could wear your shorts, and they sat you at a table and you could order from the menu. The menu is also posted outside the room, so you can check to see if you want to eat off that menu.
Also, in our checked baggage, we brought 3 12 packs of different sodas as none of us drink the same thing. We also took 6 pak of bottled water and I brought 4 of those home with me. There is small refrigerator in the rooms, but you will have to get the steward to unlock it for you as it is stocked with canned drinks ... you can also ask him to remove some of them so that you will have room for yours. Nothing was said to us about the 36 cans of soda...
I am really surprised about all the comments about bad food too! We had better food on Carnival than both times we have cruised Royal Carribean. We ate in the dining room that you paid the extra $25(make a reservation early) and it was worth every cent! Just the dessert presentation and the teenagers eyes when it came in three bowls was worth the money. The lobster was double the size of the lobster we had in the normal dining room. On royal carribean I asked for Creme Brulee and they brought chocolate pudding with brown sugar on top. I had excellent Creme Brulee' on Carnival.
There were some good things on RCI too, I just don't think its fair to say Carnival hasbadfood.

Whoops, accidentally hit the wrong key. As I was saying, I have sailed 28 times on Carnival and never had a bad meal. Some people are just far too picky. Anyone can experience a bad meal at even the finest restaurants. If you get something that isn't cooked properly then send it back and order something else. I guess if you don't appreciate filet mignon, Lobster, escargot, talapia, salmon, shrimp, prime rib, to name a few, then maybe you should stay home and go to Burger King.
