I've been watching Vacations to Go for our cruise price to be reduced, and sure enough it has been. I know that the price we have paid for our tickets include the extra entertainment on board...the country music stars...but, does Carnival HAVE to give us on board credit or some type of refund since the cruise is cheaper now? Thanks!
Call your travel agent or Carnival representative and be real nice....if there is a difference, they might just help you out. Be persistent though. They will first do the math adding all the taxes and say your cabin is a better upgrade than the new reduced rate. Good luck!

It also depends whether you booked under a group rate or not. You can't compare group rates to individual reservation prices. Groups often include amenities such as cocktail parties, onboard credit, etc. If you booked with a Travel Agent they sometimes book you into group space which is usually a better rate plus you get amenities. Carnival was having a 1-day sale today, and that price might be what you saw.
Also to add to what Cruise Fanatic says, with the one day sail, Carnival has restrictions on these if you have already paid your final payment. Sometimes to get the rate, you have to cancel the original booking then rebook, and of course they can add penalties to it. The adjustment is so much easier to get with Carnival if it is outside the final payment date. Good luck.
Our cruise has been fully paid for months. Maybe it was a one day sale, don't know. We received confirmation via e-mail a couple of weeks ago, but have still not received any papers/tickets in the mail. We leave Monday, Nov. 27...6 days! The travel agent was contacted about all of this and told us to contact Carnival, but if we completed the Fun Pass there would be no problem. I have read on cruise-chat about people leaving home without their official papers, and the Fun Pass was all they needed.....but... Should I be concerned? Any more suggestions?
First question, why would your Agent tell YOU to contact Carnival?? This is why they are your agent. Carnival will not work with the clients if they have booked with an agent. I do believe that my next booking would not be with this agent. (its agents like this that give the rest of us bad names)
Now that I have stated my $.02 on this I will answer your question. If you have your Carnival booking number and you have filled out your Fun Pass on line, print it and take it to the port with you. You will already be on the Manifest and this is all you will need. Once you get to the port there will be porters there that have the luggage tags to attach to your suitcases. Make sure you get them on with the correct cabin number or you will spend your first night looking for your luggage.
I sure am sorry you have been stressed about this. Go have a great cruise and when you return book another one but find a different agent.
Carol, Your questions are also mine....why did I need a travel agent if I have to deal with Carnival myself?? This is why I am concerned. However, I do have my confirmation number etc. So, I feel like I am pretty safe. Thanks for the info about the luggage etc....I don't want to have to deal with lost luggage!
Have a great cruise and please take my advise never do business with that agent again.
Have you filled out your fun pass yet? Please do that ASAP to make sure that your names are spelled correctly because if they do not match your identification you will have a problem boarding the ship. This way if you get it done now if there is a problem you can get it corrected.
I have completed my Fun Pass, and the names are correct. Thanks for reminding me to check it.
I was on the phone with Carnival for around 30 minutes, being passed from department to department, which was really not their fault, but once again, the travel agents. And, to make a long story a little shorter, the last person I spoke with told me that our papers had been sent to the agent, and we should have them before now. I ended up calling the Travel Agency, which is probably where I should have started.
The person who answered the phone obviously wasn't having a great day, but told me that my agent was busy getting out paper work. I asked if any of this paper work had anything to do with the Nov. 27th, Ecstasy cruise, and she said "yes, and she can't be disturbed until she gets these papers in the mail." I asked her if she realized that we possibly would not receive these, since there is a holiday this week, and she said that we should. She told me to leave her a message on her voice mail, so I did. Then I also realized that the people we are traveling with are coming from out of state, and that their papers should be mailed to our address! So, I called her back....she was more polite this time, and did give my agent the message. So...we'll see who gets what...
Oh, and when I mentioned to each person I spoke to at Carnival about the reduction in the cruise price....they were rather speechless. Said they couldn't imagine this cruise being reduced??? Well, it was, by $150.00! This was something else the agent should take care of apparently. I don't have much hope for any on board credit. But, I will stay on the agent about it!
