Apparently a recent high school graduate from Louisiana has been reported overboard from the Carnival Fantasy this afternoon.Let us all hope that the Coast Guard ia able to successfully locate him!

i read the sad news. I know it happens but it is beyond me on how it can be an accident...I would think it would take some effort to go over board...

This is very sad news. I've been away without any access to cruise news for a few days and just read this.

this kid had to be doing something stupid for this to happen.if you look and see how tall these rails are on these cruise ships it seems to me that there is no way that someone just stumbled overboard.. you have to almost climb over.. people do stupid things

It is so sad. He just graduated from High School and had his whole future ahead of him. One stupid moment and it is all over. I agree it is almost impossible to go overboard unless you are doing something you should'nt be. They said there were witnesses but not saying what the witnesses saw. Wonder if alchohol was involved.

Thanks so much Dave for posting this update and the links. Since they had called off the search, it had been on my mind how this could have happened. Passengers just don't fall from a cruise ship without trying. This is very very sad news.

I have a bone to pick with the news media for reporting these incidents as someone "falls" though. It isn't fair to the cruise lines at all, and is inaccurate reporting IMHO!

My Aunt wants to go on a cruise with me sometime. My Uncle says no because too many people "fall" off of the ships. No matter how many times I try to explain it to him, he says the "news" said they "fell" off.

I've been on a few cruises and have never been in a passenger area of a ship where I could "fall" off. Again, this is very sad news. I just wish they would get the reporting right.

Well I think she should go anyway just to prove him wrong!
