Just found out where our rooms are located and wondered if anyone had problem with noise. They're on the Main deck near an elevator. It looks as if they're directly below the one of the dining rooms and galley! Wouldn't that be really noisey? Let me know if I worrying about nothing, or if I need to try for a different location. Don't even know if I can do that at this point. Thanks for your help!
Well, I have been on the Conquest and have come down those elevators onto the main deck to walk forward (Once you get on and figure out how the ship is laid out you will understand why. But to quickly get to the theater after dinner it was easier to go down to 4 (main) to go forward). If you are worried about elevator noise, I don't think you have to worry, it was rather quite on the Main deck floor.
Your more likely to hear engine noise than elevator noise.
If you can get a different location, go for it. I try to be near the front of the ships to be away form the engine noise/vibrations that happen in the AFT of the ship. But if for some reason you can't move (and with 17 days, I would doubt they have many better choices) I wouldn't worry that much about it.
The noisest place to be is deck 6 right above the piano bar. i remember the player having been told several timest that he HAD to quit at 12PM because of noise complaints. (He never did though, I'm sure that ticked off some passengers.)

I'm less worried about engine noise than the banging and clanking of a kitchen all night. I think the engines might lull me to sleep, maybe.I just spoke with my travel agent and she said it's really a good location for getting places and our room and the kids is only one room apart, which is good. There were no connecting rooms left when I booked it. Sounds like one floor up we eat and down the hall to the shows??? Thanks for your help! Sue
She is correct in that those elevators will get you everywhere you want to go. In fact on the Conquest (and her sister ships) those in the front of the ship have to go down to Deck 5 (Promenade) or up to deck 9 (Lido/pool deck) to get to the back of the ship for dinner as those are the only ones that you can do that on besides main and Riviera. You should be fine. Have FUN!

We were in cabin upper deck that was above the show lounge and very close to the elevators. I had the same concern as you... no problem, I retired early several nights and could hear the show going on only but like in the distance, and being that close to the elevators was great.
