so we are booked for the July 1st eastern Car on the Triumph. 1st Cruise for us all well except for one of us and she cruised on a Crystal Cruise. We booked our excursions and I called Carnival and they said that our vouchers will be on board. My question is that should we call a few days in advance to make sure that this is in fact being done? We have confirmation numbers and all but I am just a little worried and I want to be sure that we do not need to do anything else for this.
Also we purchased a few Drink coupons in the gift section and sent them to ourselves. THe Carnival person told us that this was a great idea since drink gift coupons saves us money since tax and gratuity are included with these gifts. Just wanted to know if anyone else has done this.
Also..IF we bring our cell phones (we have Verizon) do we get coverage in San Juan,St Marten, St Thomas?? I'll call Verizon too but just wanted to get some feedback.
Very excited about all this and I have no idea what to expect!!

First of all I hope your friend realizes that Carnival isn't anything like the Crystal experience. It wouldn't hurt to call again and reverify about the vouchers. Always get a name of who you spoke to. The drink coupons is a great idea. I have gotten drink coupons many times. You will have to check with Verizon on the cell phone. A friend of mine used hers in San Juan. But Verizon will let you know how your phone is set up for International.

I think that is a great idea about the drink coupons. I think that I might do that too. As far as the cell phone thing. I would call and ask them what their rates are. I called my provider (T-Mobile) and their rates are crazy. 4.99 a minute. So be sure to call and see. Have a great cruise!

We use Cingular, and while in Puerto Rico and St. Thomas we had complete coverage at no additional charge since these are US territories. Call and check with your provider.

I have purchased shore excursions in advance and the tickets were on the table in your room when you arrive. I have been on carnival and Royal.

Your female friend who went on a Crystal Cruise will be sorely dissapointed if she expects Carnival to top Crystal. You see, Crystal is the tops of the luxury cruise lines.

When I was in Nassau on my first cruise, they sold phone cards which allowed me call home for 51 cents per minute. If San Juan and St. Thomas, and St. Martin have similar phone cards for sale, it might be worth buying one, instead of using your cellphone (if it is possible; my cellphone was pretty much useless except as a paperweight, while in Nassau). In Nassau that phone card costed me $5.

During both of the cruises I have been on, I purchased a soda card, which allowed unlimited purchases of soda onboad the ship, during the cruise. For me, it probably was not worth the $25 to $30 price, since I did not drink much soda during the cruises.

On both my cruises, I purchased shore excursion tickets at the last minute. The tickets were delivered in a timely manner to my stateroom. However, I heard stories from other people who weren't so lucky.

Hi, we are on the Triumph next week. We contacted Verizon and you should have service. But make sure, they had to program in for international calling for us.No extra charge if you select the option for a once in a while call. After they program it, you then dial *228 send, then select option #2, and it will program into your phone. But if your planning on calling home to another Verizon cell, they have to also dial the *228, send, option 2. As for the excursion tickets we are hoping they will be on our table in the room. Just bringyour paperwork with you from when you booked, it can't hurt.
