Hi ALl,
We have cruised before and always bought the fountain card. I just read that you can bring your own water and 12 packs of soda. Fountain cards are OK but can only get a glass at a time. Can anyone tell me if I can bring my Diet Coke with me and if so how much?
Thanks

We have never had a problem with bringing our own soda. We usually bring the 20oz bottles so we can use what we need and re-cap th rest for later. You are probably safe with a couple of six packs before they would consider it excessive. As long as you are not trying to fly to the port with 50lbs of coke in a suitcase

We have also just brough a couple of 2 liter bottles.

And for water, I have not seen them restrict water. But again, be reasonable, you can always refill the water bottles if need be.

My thought is unless you are driving to the port, it's not worth the hassle to bring soda with you, On a 7 day cruise you can buy a soda card for @ $ 30, 00; we bought the card and would recommend

Thanks. We are driving and like Jim's suggestion as it really is just for in the room. One other question if you don't mind- Saw that you traveled on the Conquest. We have been on Imagination and Fascination in the past and were satisfied. Just read a really disturbing review on Conquest from August 2007 that indicated accomodations were poor, musty and boat in general not very clean. Any thoughts before we confirm the reservation which is for the Tx spring break week, we've never left from Galveston before.
Much Appreciated!

I don't hold too much faith on one poor review. I have been on cruise chat long enough that I have foudn that on every cruise there is SOMEONE that can't be pleased no matter what. Sometimes problems occur which can't be avoided which cause some cruisers to have a bad experience. Unless everyone that comes off the ship says the same thing, then I don't worry too much about it. The Conquest is a great ship and so was the crew.

If you enjoyed the Imagination and Fasicnation, you will be impressed by the Conquest. Don't hesitate on booking a cruise on her. When you run across any other questions on Conquest or Galveston, don't be too shy to ask.

And Bem1962 is correct about it not being worth the hassle unless you are driving. I tell my wife, when we fly you get to pack in 2 suitcases. When we leave from Galveston, you can take whatever fits in the car, I don't care.

Also know that Security will ask to look inside your carry on...but they are just checking for beer.

Your soda and water are fine!!

Actually that reminds me of a funny story... We were standing in line waiting for them to begin boarding the Conquest. There was a guy a couple of spaces in front of us in line that had one of those wheeled coolers. Half filled with beer, the other half soda/water. In typical Texan style, when I informed him that they wouldn't let him bring the beer onboard, turned it into an opportunity to "tailgate" before the cruise. He handed out beer to anyone that wanted one. So we are all standing there having pre cruise warm up drinks! Can't let good beer go to waste!

Even though I have taken a few bottles of water and a six pack of soda before, I still get amazed at the people trying to save a few dollars after spending thousands of dollars on the cruise..oh well, I will probably take water the next one, too.

Its not "a few dollars". For my family of four, soda cards for all of us would cost $125. Plus the cost of bottled water to take on shore with us at $3.50 a bottle. So you are talking $150 for $10 worth of soda/water. These items used to be free on a cruise.

Like I said earlier, I don't bother and its not worth the trouble/hassle unless I am driving to the port. But if I am driving, I'm not against saving $150 even though I spent $2500 on a cruise.
