My DH and I are trying to decide between the Legend or the Glory. We will be driving, but both ports (Canaveral and Tampa) are about equal distance from us so that is not an issue. The itenirary really isn't much of an issue either -- we love going just about anywhere, and we really enjoy just being on the ship. Anyone out there who has cruised on both ships -- which one did you like the best?

I think you'll find that many of us prefer the Spirit-class ships over the Conquest-class, and therefore would pick the Legend. The Legend has a less cluttered layout and therefore a better passenger flow.

The Legend. Mainly for Dave's point but also for the itinerary. Either one would be enjoyable, but if I had to choose.....

Hi Dave -- thanks for the info. Do either of these ships have an adults-only area on the Lido deck with hot tubs and/or pools? I have seen conflicting info on different cruise forums about this. Also, can you give me some info on Carnival's smoking policy? I'm wondering if there is a non-smoking area in the casino, and are any of the bars non-smoking? Also, are there non-smoking cabins?

There are designated no-smoking lounges and public areas, but for the most part it seems Carnival has one of the more relaxed smoking policies. As for cabins, the only ones which are specifically mentioned as "no smoking" are the Spa class cabins on the Splendor. Those guests can be assessed a cleaning fee if they break the rule. I don't use casinos enough to remember if they had a no smoking area.

I recall some hot tubs being adults-only, and perhaps the aft pool on the Legend. It has been 3 years since I was on the Legend and my memory isn't as good as it used to be.

I've been on both, and would pick the Legend based solely on the ship criteria. Nothing wrong with the Glory, I had a wonderful time. I just prefer the layout of the Spirit class ships as Dave mentioned.

Neither ship has the Serenity Adults Only area. I'm not sure about which hot tubs are or would be adult only.

There are more non-smoking areas of the ships than areas that allow smoking. The main difference concerning smoking with these two ships is the Glory's aft Lido deck is totally non-smoking, whereas the Legend's is split with smoking only allowed on the starboard side.

Generally smoking is allowed in these places;

All cabins except Splendor spa cabins.

The Casino, except some machines near the Promenade entrance.

The Disco.
The Piano Bar.
The Sports Bar.

Usually one other inside bar, though it varies.

Most all open decks on the starboard side, with the exception of the aft Lido on the Glory as I mentioned.

I have sailed both and hands down prefer the spirit class ships. And we have sailed the Legend 3 times and love it.

To me, it would also depend on "when" you are planning to cruise.

We love the Spirit class ships!!! (so I would automatically vote for the Legend)

We have not been on the Glory yet (sailing next month)...but from what I have read...it does seem to be a ship that draws a lot of families when school is out.

So just keep that in mind.
