Formal wear

I am going on a cruise in 20 days and was wondering if I would be under dressed with a Dress suit ( pants , & blazer) ? I have read where it is quite varied with the dress attire.

On the formal nights alot of the ladies wear dresses. But, I have also seen many with pants and a blazer too!

I am probably not the best person to answer this though.

The only problem I see is you may have a lot of people coming up to you and asking you to take their pictures.

Both of those responses are very true. The pictures are reasonably priced and very good. My wife usually wears a gown, but there are PLENTY of ladies in nice pants suit outfits or skirts. Boy...I feel like I'm auditioning for Queer Eye! The reality is that whatever makes you comfortable is ok...after all, it's YOUR vacation. Alot depends on if you're going to get alot of pictures taken and what you wanna look like. But most importantly, be yourself and be comfortable!

PA Steve, you missed my point; I was suggesting that by wearing pants and a blazer, a lot of people would mistake her for a ship photographer.

I got it, Rick. Actually, I have a dark blue pantsuit and have been mistaken for cruise staff several times.

Linda, how many nights is your cruise? The reason I ask is that, generally, the shorter cruises are not as formal as the longer ones.

My daughter is not the dress kinda gal. She wore a nice pantsuit and it was fine.

Rick...you're going way too fast for me...I can't get em that easy! The cruise lines are a bit hypocritical though...I wore a nice skirt with a halter top and they wouldn't let me in the dining room!! Musta clashed with my beard!

It was probably the halter top that did it; you should have gone with a nice taffeta blouse.

I remember wearing a maroon tie and cummerbund with my tux on the Norwegian Sea several years ago. It happened to be close to the color worn by the dining room staff and at least twice that night I got approached by passengers asking me questions. Rather than go through a big explanation I simply answered the questions and said thank you for cruising with us or something like that.
