This lady I met on there told me something was bitting her. So had theses little bites on her legs. She was thinking it was coming from the linens.
I don't think they wash the top covers at the end of the cruise. The morning that we were leaving some of the beds were already made - I did not see a stack of clean top covers anywhere. I think all they do is wash the sheets. Does anyone know how clean the bed covers really are?

Oddly enough, it does not have anything to do with being clean. They hide in headboards and the crevices of the mattress. They don't come out until they feel the "warmth" of the body.
They don't change out the comforters...so that is why I give the entire cabin a dose of Clorox spray (top to bottom) upon entering the cabin.
No, it won't help with bed bugs. Maybe they will bring back DDT for ships. 8 ^ 0
Hi. Our last cruise was on the Freedom of the Seas on RCCL. We left our room MUCH later than everyone else. Every room, from our room to the elevator had already emptied out of passengers. I made a mental note that I did notice the bed spread lying on the couch, and the bed stripped of linens to be washed. So, they are not washing the bedspread. I wonder if this is standard practice on other cruise ships. Think of everything people DO on the bedspreads. I wonder if you requested a clean bedspread from the stateroom attendent, if you would really get a clean one. That is really gross. I guess you could take the bedspread off and sleep in warm pjs to keep warm. Yikes!!! Lil' Lori
I try not to even touch the thing! And there is a blanket too. If they can't give me a new spread, I am going to at least ask for a clean blanket. But for the record Scabies and Bed Bugs are 2 different things. I am a germ freak, and like LHP with the clorox, I do take lysol and spray the the bathroom down and the surfaces of the cabin. What good is a shiney toilet when it was wiped with a rag from every other toilet?
I take my Wet Ones too at the buffet. I wonder how many people slide their hands along the rail, handle the chairs, salt&pepper, ketchup etc. Then pick their burger up?
It is weird for someone to get Scabies on a cruise, seems most cases are people in the same bed for prolonged periods, but can be spread by workers. And they do move the beds and clean, so Bed Bugs? Does not mean it did not happen.
A study was done about Hotel Rooms and germs, most people thought the toilet or bathroom door would have the most germs. The TV remote had more germs than both combined.
I have made it a practice to spray all of my bedding, whenever and wherever I travel, with Lysol or an equivalent disinfectant before I lie down in it. I learned this after 25 years in the military!
Let's not start a stampede... my wife and I have been on over 30 cruises and haven't been bit yet. If I were paranoid I'd stay home. Why spend all that money to live in fear of all the nasty things that are lurking out there.
IslandCruz- You had better stop breathing in all that nasty air in the office. Do you realize how much of that has been in someone else's lungs? yuck...
Realistically, yes there are germs out there. Wash your hands before eating. Not much more that you can do. I can't say I disagree with your Lysol use. Though I'm not sure how much that truly helps. Our bodies have immune systems for a reason.
I agree with SonnyV. If you going to let it run your life, you'll turn into Howard Hughes...afraid to leave his room.

I try not to go overboard...but I "clean" the cabin, just like I "clean" my home. I use the Clorox spray (no it does not leave bleach stains) at home on counters, floors etc.
