Can anyone tell me what the Destiny is like as far as excitement, age group that sails her, casino, upgrades, staterooms, things to that nature, just got off the Fascination and had a ball would love the same type of fun time.

I sailed Destiny a few weeks ago. I did enjoy myself despite being sick. However as with most ships there is lots to do. I like the shows especially. The Destiny has something that not many others do and that is an overnight stay on La Romana where you can sample a spectacular local show at night. The Destiny has all the other normal things, Spa, Sports deck, Dancing, clubs, shows, music groups, art shows, casino. As far as the age group, it can depend on what week you go, Vacation weeks will have more younger folks.

I thought San Juan was one of the easiest ports to leave from. I liked it.

We just returned from the Destiny a couple of weeks ago. It was a super schedule that just flat wore you out, but so much to see and do that made it fabulous! As far as the ship goes we went for the iternary as been on one Carnival ship been on them all sort of thing. Same food, same shows, same casinos, same music etc. However I will say that our Maitre d' Frankie was a one man show that I have never, EVER seen on a Carnival cruise before. He was awesome! For the first time I really wanted to tip the maitre d'. The old gal (Destiny) has a lot of wear and tear on her, but I have heard she goes into dry dock in September. If you plan on going out of PR on a cruise I would strongly suggest you go into Old San Juan a few days early and enjoy that port to the fullest before you sail. Its a wonderful place to visit with wonderful people. A nice little hotel right in the city and walking distance to the ship is called Hotel Milano that is a good buy. Small rooms, but us cruisers don't mind that.
