I am trying to find some information regarding wireless internet access on the Carnival Glory. Carnival has not been very helpful as it seems that their people don't really know anything about it and are simply reading from a text. Other than the charges for access, the only thing that I know for sure is that I can bring my own laptop on board. I have had conflicting answers regarding whether I can use my own wireless card or if I am obligated to rent one from the Internet Cafe. If I don't have to rent a card, I would like to confirm that my existing card will work...ie what wireless protocol do they use on board? If I have to rent a card, how much do they charges, do they have sufficient quantities (I really only need it for Monday to Friday) and can I reserve one in advance? Does anyone know if I will be able to connect from my cabin or is the range such that I need to be closer to the Cafe? And lastly, are the any firewall-type restrictions that would prevent me from connecting remotely to a computer at home?

My husband brought his Blackberry along on a recent trip, and he never bothered to look at it. There were too many other things to do and see. Have you checked out the shore excursions? Wi-Fi tends to be very expensive, and accessible only in the internet cafe or immediate surroundings. As to firewall/protocols, we are unsure.
*glass of wine lifted to you*
Here's hoping you will find lots to do away from your computer! Have a great cruise.
This is my 2nd cruise, so its not that I feel that I will not have enough other things to do; unfortunately I have to be available to assist my customers in the event of an emergency. I hope to never really need to use the internet (other than to check email); but as a one-man business, I can't be out of contact from my customers for very long...after all, they are the reason I can afford to take a nice vacation.
Thanks for your reply and we will definately have a good cruise.
