We were on the Spirit for the Hawaii cruise in Sept/Oct. On the Days at Sea the Captain visited with the passengers eating in the Dining Room at lunchtime. (I hope he got up to the Lido deck also). On my 23 Cruises on Carnival, it is the first time the Captain has been so visible and friendly. He is the one who told us about Carnival changing the Captain's Reception to the Meet and Greet and
Farewell Party. Hats off to Captain Roberto Volpi! (I still plan to write my cruise review as soon as my life slows down.)

Welcome Back grandmag!

Looking forward to your review, don't forget to post it on the main site CruiseReviews.com as well.

I had the pleasure of cruising with Captain Volpi when he was the Captain of the Legend. I have to agree out of all my Carnival cruises he was the most visible and accessible Captain ever. He would even make a round at the aft lido deck bar to see how everyone was enjoying their cruise. He has a great sense of humor too. I say hats off as well!

Oh, I forgot to add that the Spirit was the last ship to convert to the "Meet and Greet" and "Fun Farewell". It was supposed to be after the second Hawaii cruise. I'll bet Captain Volpi will really enjoy the new format as it is evident he likes to talk with the guests.

We have sailed with Captain Volpi many times over the years.

He has always been one of my favorite.

I was telling him about all the wonderful comments on "a particular cruise forum" and he said he had heard that but never could find them.

So when I got home....I emailed them to him.

We met him on the Legend as well. A great guy and probably our favorite captain.

Another great Captain is Captain Scala.

If you ever sail with him, he holds a 30 minute Q and A in the main theater on every cruise.

He also calls the numbers for crew bingo...which I think is very cool!!!
