Has anyone ever missed the ship while on an excursion or during your cruise? I really want to book my own excursions (going on the Legend western caribbean) but am afraid i'll miss the ship while cave tubeing or whatever.
So If you miss the ship, what happens? Your passport is on the ship along with all of your other stuff. Just pre cruise jitters.
Hi Jill. Welcome. Thankfully, I've never missed a cruise. But, on Pride, a few cabins didn't make it back in time.
To put it bluntly... your S.O.L. if you miss the cut off time. I guess you would catch a plane to the next port or to the port you departed from.
Do as Neil stated. If there's any doubt, stick with an excursion booked through the cruise line. At least they will hold the ship if there's a delay.

On our last Mexican Riviera cruise we had half a dozen hard-partiers get left in our last port, Cabo San Lucas (at a Cantina, from eye witness reports). I can only begin to imagine the hassle of (a) getting back into the country with no documents and (b) getting their belongings back from the ship.
You know, I struggled with the fact that we don't cruise on boats, hence, we don't miss the boat. Rather, the correct terminology would be "missing the ship" and it just ain't funny if I say I've been accused of missing the ship frequently.
