Cabin Upgrades

We booked an ocean view guarantee and they said we may possible get upgraded. I've been told my cabin number. Does that mean we will not be upgraded any further, or do they tell you about upgrades when you get on the ship? (first time cruiser leaving in 17 days!!)

I may be wrong on this, but once the ship assigns you a cabin, my understanding is that that is your cabin. The last time we cruised Carnival, we were given the possibility of an upgrade, which we got, and didn't get the cabin number until we checked in at the pier.
