First Cruise on Holiday Mid August - Help please

Watch the prices at the port facility in Costa Maya. I found the same Mexican blankets for prices ranging from $5 to $60.

And never pay the asking price in Mexico.

Thanks Rich! I think I'm leaning toward an excursion on Costa Mayo since there's not much else there. Maybe snorkel or something. Think I'll save Cozumel for shopping and then going to one of the beaches mentioned above for some sun and cute little drinks with umbrellas. What's the famous restaurant on Cozumel that everone visits and why is it so great?

Do you mean Pancho's Backyard, in Cozumel? Great food and margaritas. And it is a perfectly safe place - both for food and frozen drinks.

It is nice because of the quality of the food and beverages, and the relaxed atmosphere.

Southern Miss Mom....I agree..go with the cute little black dress with pumps. In that attire, you will most definitely meet anyone you want to! In Costa Maya, there is a neat swim-up bar and restaurant in the "tourist village" that is a great place to people-watch and drink margaritas or mudslides. In the early afternoon, they have audience participation games (similar to poolside day-at-sea) that are fun to watch as well. Treat the day in Costa Maya as a visit to a "private island" to relax and you'll have a good time there.

Private island sounds very nice. I think we are on Costa Mayo from 12-7pm. And I'll probably do the little black dress as well! lol What's a vacation for?

Do any of you suggest foregoing the excursions and just hang out on the beaches or pools? I really don't want any time constraints to deal with...

Having solo cruised before, I can tell you that you will meet many new friends on the cruise. If you have no concrete plan, you can go where you want with who you want, or by yourself even. Once you book something you are committed. Personally, I think you'll have a great time just winging it day to day!
