Just wanted to let those that may have noticed that the Currents magazine had listed the Carnival Glory as sailing from Galveston from September to March 2010, this is a typo.
The Conquest sails from Galveston. Wishful thinking though as it would have been nice to have a different ship to sail on out of Galveston. Not the the Conquest isn't a great ship, but something different would have been nice (or additional ships for more sailings would have been good too)

Good catch Jim! The error is on the back of the Carnival Connections insert. They get it right on page 7 in the Galveston article. I wonder how many calls they've had about that.
They almost got a call from me! I wouldn't mind being able to sail on the Glory without having to fly to get to it... In fact that might be a good thing for Carnival to do... take the ports that only have one or two ships sailing from them and switch up the ships once in a while. People that only cruise when they can drive to the port would book cruises just to be on the different ship.

I love the idea! They've been doing it for a while now. They have repositioned so many ships around the last few years it has been hard to keep up. Granted though, the Conquest has been in Galveston for a long while. This is just a guess going by their recent history of moving so many ships, I'm thinking they will switch a few more ships in the near future.
Well, they are putting the Pride in Baltimore year round so maybe Charleston is on the radar. The Fantasy was at Port Canaveral for a very, very, long time and the Elation out in LAX very, very, long.
I'd like to see all the cruise lines try out different ports. I'd love to see Princess in Mobile or New Orleans. In fact, one ship from each line in Mobile or New Orleans. I really wanted to do the Charleston-Bermuda on NCL, but the only date they sailed was not a good date. Really, can't they have more than one sailing a year from Charleston? More and more people are driving to catch their cruise. I don't know what airlines are going to do in the future, but I'm sure it won't be reduce fares. I know gas is going to go back up to be ridiculous again, but if you can pile 1 or 2 families in a van and get to a port, it's still less expensive than flying. Maybe someone with their advanced degrees running these operations can see the potential, maybe not. It's something to hope for though.
