One of my friends at work was telling me if I got a Veranda room, the stewards would give me free wine everyday. I did not believe this at all but I thought I would ask the group just in case it is true.
I have a cabin on Verandah Deck booked and was not alerted to this. I have recieved 1 bottle before in a welcome basket a few times. And a few glasses at the past cruisers reception and Captain's cocktail. I was only on the Main Deck.
I wonder if you can trade the wine for beer?
Seriously, it is not true. If you have a suite you will get some gifts. But I don't think free wine everyday is one of them. Dave would know, he usually books a suite.
It is not the deck, ie: Verandah that gets gifts. It is the Cabin Category. I have an inside cabin on Verandah, I don't think I am going to get wine everyday.
Anyone remember when they actually had the free wine tasting? Not a wine person, but I enjoyed learning about them and the different cheeses etc. They would give you a sample of each wine, and you could try the cheese as well. For Free!
Your friend has obviously not cruised in a long while. Verandah deck rooms are not the special rooms they used to be. You can get a fairly ordinary cabin on the V-deck now. And even in the suites you don't get free wine everyday. Maybe in an owner's suite on RCCL but we would need someone who has the rocks to get into one of those to confirm or deny that.
Even if the free wine was true, it would not offset the cost of a suite cabin to get it. Nothing is truly free..

No free wine on any Cruise line I have been on. As stated above very little is free, altough I will have to say Carnival is very liberal with the drinks at the Captains and repeaters partys.Tom
