Hi Marylovestocruise,
Thanks for the write up about Carnival Miracle. By accident I just found out on www.carnival.com and their reviews that the propulsion system on miracle is messed up and that they changed the itinerary. I need any information you might have if possible.
My family (26 people total) are booked for the Panama Canal trip (just like yours was supposed to be) for the April 6th sailing. We have been booked for almost a year and then tonight saw the information. I called Carnival and the girl said that they have sent out letters to the people affected through the Feb. 16th cruise. She didn't know when and if it would be fixed. Do you know anything regarding that? You said something about February...do you know something? We have to pay our full amount by Jan. 20th and are afraid to take our chances that it will be repaired by then. The Carnival girl said if I was concerned, then maybe I should book something else. Problem is, we've been on 15+ CCL's and been to almost all the ports, that's why this one was appealing. Our biggest concern is the ship not running with stabilizers. We were on the old ships before those, not fun! The gentleman in his review on Carnival went on Dec. 15 sailing and said it was rocking and that everyone was sick, and those not normally sick. How was your trip on the ship? We just don't know what to do. We're looking at possible cancellation and going with Crown Princess ship that week instead. Hate to give up dream cruise, but don't want to be sick in Mexico. LOL Any input you can give me is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much and enjoy your cruise on Fascination. We love the Coconut Grove in the back Lido restaurant. It's a great ship. Happy Cruising.
My apologies that you were not welcomed sooner. I don't know what is up with Carnival's phone people of late. I have experienced it as well. They are suppose to fix the problem with the emergency drydock. All propulsion and stabilizers should be fully functional afterwards.
We had a very stable trip on the Miracle. The last sea day and night, we had an emergency on board and it was too windy to airlift the passenger so they decided to really kick it into high gear.
Even in the wind and high seas, it wasn't all that rocky. Course I'm one of those annoying people who think the ship should rock all the time. It is very soothing to me. Hard to believe what makes one person sick (my husband) makes me sleep like a baby!
Seriously, where was some rocking, but I didn't notice anyone sick. The new patches that are available work much better than the older ones without the drowsiness.
We really did have a wonderful time. Don't rebook, we asked the staff and they said that the ship would be brand new after the February drydock.
To Island Cruz Moderator & Mary Loves to Cruz,
I want to thank you guys for your input and for double checking for Mr. Moderator. We've heard so many things. What I know is you CANNOT book a cruise on Miracle from Feb. 25-March 13...that's good news, must mean they really are dry docking.
I think we're all going to take our chances and go ahead and pay. Of course we'll check back the day we pay, but common...you're on a ship, no work, no cleaning, no cooking, and treated like royalty. To be honest, I could sleep for the week in those comfy beds. LOL
Do either one of you have suggestions on the ports?
Panama Canal - thinking of the Ferry boat through the canal. Do you know anything about it?
Costa Rica - need something nice but inexpensive. Tours are so expensive and the's 4 of us.
Belize - thinking of snorkeling at Goff's Cay. Good tour?
Any input you have would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm helping a number of us decide what to do.
Again thank you so much for everything. You folks are wonderful. God bless you.

Mmars- Just got off the Miracle yesterday. Excellent cruise ship and fantastic staff! As stated by others, the ship will be out of dry dock prior to your sailing date. I was told by multiple employees that the ship is going to dry dock in Feb for two weeks. As far as the stabalizers are concerned, they were working properly during our sailing. Ship sailed steady all 8 days, very minor vibration at certain times but nothing I haven't experienced on every cruise ship I've been on. Overall, ship is very well kept and very clean. Staff was friendly and the food was good. Will write a full review soon but feel free to email me with any specific questions in the mean time.
mmars, Thank you so much for your kind comments. Of the ports mentioned I've only been to Belize. Geoff's Cay was picture perfect when I was there several years ago. Check out the Caribbean Port section located here. There is a wealth of information there as well.
The Admiral Chabanenko went through "The Ditch" on the night of December 5. No doubt she had a few submarines as escorts. I don't know what time they came back through or even if they did. From my research, it was an azipodal issue. They could have always cruised at more knots but they slowed the vessel down to prevent further damage to any of the drive systems.

Hey Louis,
You just made me feel better about the stabilizers working properly for your cruise, we are leaving on Feb 9. We did get the letter stating the propulsary system was not working properly and therefore they have changed one of our ports from St.Lucia to Grand Turk as they could not get the speed that they required, there was never any mention of the stability of the ship. I hope this is the case. They offered us a $50 onboard credit (I beleive that is per stateroom and not per guest? however I hope I am wrong)
So Louis how about that review? I am dying to find out as much as I can about the ship and staff.(Wee Jimmy from the Glory was by far our best Cruise director) We have sailed on the Liberty, Glory and the Freedom. All larger ships than that of the Miracle so I am somewhat curious to see if there is a difference between this and the other ships.
