Never having cruised before I have to ask if there are insects at Sea? Mesquites, Fly’s, Nat’s, just those annoying bugs that might ruin an evening on deck watching the stars?
I have never once experienced any insects at sea, day or night. Now, funny thing is... one time on our way back to port, we were well into our second day at sea, and a pelican was sitting up on deck. It was laughable. He was tagged. No one quite knew where he came from or how he got there. Fellow cruisers were taking pictures with him. He may have been on the dinner menu that night for all I know. A'ndrea
Depends on your itinerary. South American sailing can have some pretty serious issues. Manaus is a common port for Brazillian cruises and it's located on the Amazon. You're required to have a yellow fever shot if you book it.
For some reason I've had a couple of clients complain about mosquitos from late season Alaska sailings. Last place I'd expect an issue. You'd think the brutal winters would kill them off.
You won't have any issues in the Caribbean though.
We have sailed the Western, Eastern and Southern Caribbean and have never had any problems with any bugs. We have sailed in March, September, October and December.
LHP You will enjoy the Victory we were on it in December '05 And the Triumph is another great ship we sailed on it last Sept '06 and I am booking the Triumph again tonight or tomorrow for December this year. I liked it so much I have to sail it again.
How far would a swarm of mosquitoes have to fly to reach a cruise ship at sea? What if they get tired? Honestly, never saw a bug while at sea. you will have to blame the ports for those.
