I don't know what to do- we are all sick with fevers etc. I don't think we'll be better in time. Does Carnival allow for refunds in this case, or while they change your travel date? We aren't giving up just yet, hopefully we'll feel better by then...
Desiree00, did you purchase the travel insurance for you and your family? If not, then can not promise what Carnival will do, you are already in the penalty stages of loosing the full amount you paid for the cruise.
If you purchased the Carnival Coverage then they do have a cancel for any reason you get a 75% cruise credit for a future cruise, if you have a covered reason (such as sickness) then you will receive 100% refund or cruise credit.
If you did purchase outside insurance then dont worry, you just need to have a doctor write a statement stating you are unable to travel due to the fevers and sickness. Then immediately file with your insurance company.
Good luck, hope you all get to feeling better and get to make your cruise.
But if you are still ill when the day arrives, I urge you to not go. This is the type of thing that causes ships to become sick - an ill passenger boards and spreads it and then it becomes an endless cycle which is difficult to end. This is how the "norovirus" episodes happen.
Desiree, I do agree with LHP in that your entire family should get to the doctor first thing. Have strep cultures taken. Docs can rule out Norovirus. Hopefully, your house doesn't have that, or, like Dave said, you're not going anywhere.
My daughter had the Noro Easter week. Started off with low-grade fever, chills, sweating, no appetite, body aches. That lasts for up to 3 days. Vomiting also accompanies this. After three long, lovely days of that, it will go into diarrhea. Oh Joy ! She lost 5 pounds during this time.
If you are not experiencing any of these symptoms, you may not have the virus and it could very well be treatable with antibiotics. Only your M.D. will be able to advise you. Best of health to you and your family. Hopefully, he will give you the green flag to sail. A'ndrea
Well first think DON’T PANIC!!
Maybe is just a cold not the Ebola virus
People don’t make this more difficult please…
This is what I will do in your case:
1. I will consider you don’t have trip insurance that’s the reason of the post I think, go to the doctor as soon as possible.
2. Second maybe before going to the doctor Tylenol will help, but remember even if you feel better go to the doctor.
3. Call the cruise line and ask if there anything you can do, but be careful remember if they think is the norovirus they will never let you in the cruise even if it isn’t.
4. You are three days for your cruise!!! You will be fine!!! Be positive start packing!!! Remember make the best from the worse at least you have some free work time to pack.
Let me tell you my experience maybe it will help:
Last year I went to the adventure of the seas with my wife, 4 days before my cruise my wife, she works as a research technician in the University, do something I will never understand…
Why she decides it was a good idea to take a few heavy boxes to her laboratory using the escalators instead of the elevator?
I HAVE NO IDEA!!!
So what happen?
She gets an injury because of this Careless behavior, sorry honey I love you but it’s true, and before you know it she can’t walk much or take two steps without pain…
So I get nervous, yell, scream and then after that, decide to go the Doctor and explain the problem, the cruise etc.
He just laugh, explain me there will be no trouble and gave her the treatment needed
This was worst than your case, she walk all the islands and believe me even better than me, for us was one of the best experiences we ever had…
You will be in good hands
Go to the doctor get your treatment and when you get to your cruise enjoy it
HAVE FUN!!…
Unfortunately, I feel even worse today. And no, as a silly first time cruiser, I thought the insurance would be unnecessary. I didn't go to the doctor yesterday because I was feeling better as the day went on, but got worse last night, and today I feel worse than ever. I made an appointment for 12:45 today. I hope it is something like strep, so at least we know what it is and can get cured right away. I am extremely bummed!!! Here's hoping it all works out!
