This will be my first time on her and I will be taking a first time cruiser. I told her that we'll need to explore the ship to find the bars, food, and casino, in that order I looked at the deck plans, and she seems pretty straight forward as far as layout.

Anyone know areas that aren't on the deck plan, like the sandwich station, pizza station, ice cream, or the best bars?

lido deck has pizza, deli sandwiches which are great and several ice cream machines. Try to avoid 12-1p.m. and the crowds will be a little less.Carnival keeps making the ships larger but the common areas are not.

Have not been on the Valor yet. The deck plan should be the same as the Glory which I've been on several times. The bars and entertainment vary with the ships as you know. I like the Sports Bar adjacent to the Casino and the Piano Bar usually, both on the Promenade deck 5. The specialty Food Outlets are along the Lido deck starting midship to aft on both sides of the ship. One that is overlooked and not easy to find is the Fish n Chips located on the Panorama deck. Take the steps up one deck in the back of the casual restaurant on Lido and you'll find a great place to eat without as much hustle and bustle. The fish ain't bad either.

Now there is a quirk with the Conquest class ships about walking to the main dining rooms on the Lobby and Atlantic decks. You can find a dead end going to either the Forward or Aft Dining Rooms. The best thing to do is take either the mid or aft elevators depending on which Dining room you have to the entrance.

Thanks vietvet and Dwayne. Very, very good information. I selected the As you wish or anytime dining, whatever they call it, so I don't know which dining room we'll be in. I love the pizza, sandwiches and ice cream. Usually it takes me a couple of days to find everything. I'm going to try the fish and chips this time, everyone raves about them.

I think all Carnival ships have a dinning room right slap in the middle except the Spirit Class ships. It is sort nof a pain to get around sometimes.

I'm not sure which one it will be either. I lost a lot of my info when the computer conked out. As you know it should be on your S&S card when you check in. Maybe someone knows that has done the "Your Time Dining" on the Valor.

Yes they do, and they are commonly referred to as the Forward Dining Rooms.

The Spirit class ships only have one two-deck dining room and the galley is located one-deck below the dining room. The other ships have two dining rooms with the galley located in between them. This is why you have to go up one deck and back down. I've seen this on other cruise lines also.

The Conquest class ships also have additional dead ends on the interior Atlantic deck. It can be tricky if you are walking to the dining rooms on the Lobby or the Atlantic decks.

Penny, it is supposed to be available for both dining rooms now between 5:45 and 9:30pm.
