I was wondering if anyone has been on the Sensation lately? I was thinking about doing a 4 day to the Bahamas in May to help overcome the "cruise blues" while waiting for my 7 day Alaska in September. I have heard that the Bahamas isn't the best place to go, but as long as I am on the ship I don't care. I can make it fun. Atleast I can say I have been there. Anyway, let me know. Thanks!

I really enjoy this site. I can ask any question and it gets answered immediately. However, this question has not been answered as fast as I would like so it scares me a little.

I haven't been on the Sensation but I'll be happy to reply to you!
Go for it! The Sensation should offer a cruise that is no different than any other 4-day on a Fantasy-class ship. Carnival is retrofitting these ships with Waterworks and Serenity Adult area. Not sure when the Sensation is scheduled for the upgrade.
I have been on the Sensation may times. I think I could walk it in my sleep. It's an older ship, but it's kept up to date. If you're lucky, you'll get "Stephen" from St Vincent as your waiter and get sensational service. He just got back from vacation.
They have an open market, but the prices in the terminal are just as good and the merchandise is in better shape than in the open market. There is a Pirate's Musuem within walking distance.
Lower your expectations of the Bahamas and you'll have a good time. The Bahamas can be boring, but it's all in what you make it.
We did the Sensation (pre-Katrina) and had a great time. It was one of the few 4 day cruises we had done at that time and had a wonderful cruise.
It is a good size ship. Not to big, not to small. My favorite class is the Spirit class, but the Fantasy class is my second choice!
(especially when they get them all converted with the Waterworks addition)
We just got back fom that very cruise. It was our first, so we really didnt know what to expect. All of the people we spoke with ( a good number of them...seasoned cruisers) all agreed with us. It was fantastic!! The service was top notch. Carl in the piano bar was tons of fun. Our wait staff was very attentive. Daniel, who served drinks in the touch of class, as well as our table for dinner was one of a kind. I asked for a special long island (my own variation)and it was made to perfection. On top of that, she remembered how to make it the next night with out prompting. We had read some reviews about the sensation before we had left. They pointed to some less than favorable items, but we never saw them. The ship as just about perfect. Some light wear marks here and there, but not bad at all.
As for ports-o-call, I could have done without Freeport. You are docked about 4 miles from town and MUST take a taxi to get to the tourist area. From there, your got shops and food and a nice beach. But thats about it.
Nassau was MUCH nicer. Cheers to the staff at Senior Frogs! We All in all, the ship and staff far exceeded our expectations. We had a BLAST!!!! We cant wait for our next cruise!!
I was also on the Sensation this past March we had a great time. It was our second trip there in 6 months. I like walking around the Straw Market (when you can get through)and striking up some deals. We usually spend a few hours in Paradise Island at the Casino then come back and hang out in the walking distance of the cruise ship. Senor Frogs is fun but We found that their food was alot to be desired. I guess all the uneaten food on peoples plates after they were through should have given us the first clue.We never went to Freeport only to Nassau.Oh by the way we are leaving on October 11th for the same cruise!!!Didikay Any body going on the same cruise?
