any advice for a novice cruiser on the day before cruising? I am going to the mexican riviera on the pride.

Get up high and near the back for sailaway--there's more to see behind than ahead.
Have a wonderful trip. I'll bet you're glad to be getting out of Riverside for a while. Mexico will be hot too, but at least you'll be on the water.
