Here's the recipe. Here

...and we now see Penny running to the store to load up on the ingredients. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

Dave - Do You think we could persuade Penny to make some for us all????

Does anybody else feel it kind of takes the mystique out of it to know you can make it at home any time you want?
|
That is true, Rick. But then many recipes cannot be duplicated in home kitchens with much success. Not sure about this one. It seems pretty simple.
And now for my dark secret...I guess I might be risking excommunication from the forum but I really am not impressed by the melting chocolate cake. I am not a major dessert nut anyway and am happy with just some ice cream, cheesecake, or pie. |
My wife is a VERY GOOD COOK. She has never been able to make melting chocolate cake as good as they do onboard...It is not just me, she will agree also.
Dave Ice Cream is one of my favorites also. think I will go grab a bowl. |
I will have to give the recipe to my mother-in- law. She is an outstanding baker and I will see how hers turned out.

I just used the recipe tonight. To me, it tasted similar to the cake we've had on cruises, but not quiet the same. The most difficult part was taking the cake out of the oven at precisely the right time. My husband ate it without complaint, so it must have tasted okay or he was scared to comment.

I think the ambiance and service comes into play also. You just can not match that at home.
I guess I'll just have to go on another cruise to double check that. |
Whoops! I did it again. Sorry Gary I meant to reply not edit. I guess I just got excited about chocolate melting cake.
