We have reservations on the main deck-mid ship, ocean view. We have never cruised before and I was wondering if that deck is good to be on or should I try to upgrade to the spa deck? Any advice or tips on shore excursions on the Western Carribean trip would be be greatly appreciated.
WHEN ARE YOU GOING? WE ARE GOING IN JUNE. AFTER 11 CRUISES I HAVE ALWAYS HAD A GOOD TIME. YOU'LL LOVE THE GLORY. FOR THE MONEY MAIN DECK WITH A WINDOW IS FINE. THE WESTERN TRIP YOU NEED TO BOOK YOUR OUTTINGS THREW CARNIVAL.SOME OF THE GOOD THINGS TO DO MIGHT BE A RIDE AWAY AND MEXICO AND BELIZE YOU MIGHT DO BETTER TO GO THREW THE SHIP.IF YOU THNK YOU'D LIKE TO DIVE OR SNORKLE THIS IS A GREAT TRIP FOR IT. THERES A CATAMARAN TRIP TO SNORKLE AND BEACH PARTY ITS GREAT.PRINT THE EXCURSIONS AND DECIDE WHAT SOUNDS LIKE YOU AND HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO SPEND.
COZUMEL THERE IS BARGINS RIGHT THERE AT THE SHIPS PORT.HOWEVER BE WARNED THEY ARE VERY PUSHEY.YOU WILL HAVE A BLAST!
I've asked you before and now I ask again - please turn off the capital letters lock key. Reading messages that are in all CAPS is annoying to most people - including me.
Traveling in mid July on the Glory to Western Carribean. I have done web searching, not sure whether to book excursions through Carnival or other companies I have read about like Shore Trips, Coral Breeze, NCQadventure tours. Any opinions on what companies or what excurions?
Have you cruised before? Or have you been to any of the ports before? If not then I strongly suggest you stick with the tours offered by the ship since this provides the most security. By that I mean the ship will not leave port if one of "their" tours has not returned. Ships have no way of knowing who is on a tour with a private operator, and if those tours are delayed the ship will not wait for them to return.
However, if you are comfortable with a port then booking a private tour can often be cheaper.

Being on any deck on a cruise ship is better than NOT being on a deck of a cruise ship...
But seriously, the spa deck cabins are nice because you get the floor to ceiling window and a bit more space. And they don't cost as much as a balcony cabin. But, as stated many times before, to many people the cabin is not very important. It depends on your choice and your finances. The main deck is just fine (al the cabins are very close to the same in a given category despite the deck.) If you never have cruised before, you won't knwo any different anyway. Like I said, the spa deck cabins have a bit more area (like the balcony area is enclosed and part of the cabin) they are nice but we found that there was a lot of thumping during the day (not sure if it was the work out machines in the spa or the kids jumping in camp carnival)not a problem at night though. The COOL thing about being on the spa deck is that you could use the showers in the spa which are huge instead of your cabin shower and since you are right there, it is very convienent. If you have the extra $$ go for the spa, but ifyou would rather have that extra money for excursions and spending cash, it is nothing that will make or break your cruise.

you really don't spend much time in your cabin. I'd save the money and use it on an excursion or in the casino or something. The Glory is a great ship and you'll have a blast! We're going for our second Glory cruise next month.
travgurl - You will love the Glory. It has been my favorite ship so far. As far as the spa deck, that was the room we had last time. I am adding links so you can see the difference in the rooms. We had the Cat 6E last time and loved it.
