Anyone else booked on (or booking) this cruise?
Hubby and I can't wait, but would love to talk to others who will be taking this cruise...let's chat! We've heard private tours far surpass the ship excursions, but become more affordable when 6 or 8 people share. Let's talk about seeing Rome, Livorno, Naples, Rhodes, Athens, Katakolon, Izmir and Istanbul!!! |
Hi Terri,
Yes, we are booked on this cruise. The only things that are firm at the moment are:- We arrive in Rome on the 9th staying at the Best Western President and leave the hotel on the morning of the 13th by limo to get to the ship. We are young 70's both active but don't want the hassle of going by train. The only other tentative plan is to visit Pompeii amd Herculaneum using the train I believe this is an easy option and gives us more time at the sites. I will post a question on this shortly in the ports section. Look forward to further chats and plans. Peter |
Woo hooo! Our first fellow cruisers!!! http://images8.fotki.com/v154/photos...33/wave-vi.gif
We stil have to book our flights, but we are planning to fly out of southern California on the 11th, arriving on the 12th, so we have one night's stay to figure out before leaving for the port on the 13th. Since the flight we're looking at arrive in the late afternoon of the 12th, I thought maybe we should just stay in Civitavecchia somewhere. I figure we won't get to see much of Rome that night (we have a bit more time after the cruise for that). Do you have your limo to the ship already arranged? Hubby and I are late 50's, also pretty active. In Naples, we've also been talking about Pompeii and perhaps Herculaneum....Livorno, I just don't know. Florence seems a ways away, and neither hubby nor I are particularly excited about the Leaning Tower, as yet! *L* |
Hi Terri, http://images8.fotki.com/v154/photos...33/wave-vi.gif
This great! You are arriving late afternoon on the 12th? Instead of all the extra hassle after your long flight, (it's going to be late by the time you arrive in cittavechia) why not book into the same hotel as us and we can share the limo in the morning to the ship. The hotel is the Best Western President and we got a good rate through www.hotelclub.com. We had thought about staying over in Cittavecchia but then decided against it. We haven't booked the limo yet but have found out that they will pick us up from the hotel and take us to the port for 170 euros thats 340 NZ dollars I don't know what it is in US$. It would be great to share and much more comfortable. Cheers Peter |
Hi Terri, http://images8.fotki.com/v154/photos...33/wave-vi.gif
I got the web address wrong for the hotel club it should be www.hotelclub.net. I was just checking and see that a room at the Best Western President Hotel in on the 12th out on the 13th May will cost you USD204 for a double including a hot buffet breakfast and all taxes. Do you think the limosine service has different sized vehicle? If we find another couple with similar plans going on the same sailing, perhaps we could slice the limo/pie even a bit smaller! http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo.../icon_wink.gif Thanks for the corrected URL...we will check it out, definitely. If you would like to email me directly, my email address is: terri91049@yahoo.com Talk to you soon!! |
