Zita,

It might be better if you pose the question in the message area instead of just in the subject line.

A muster drill is a mandatory assembly of all passengers - with their life jackets - at their designated muster stations. This is commonly called "the lifeboat drill", but it can be initiated for a variety of emergencies which have nothing to do with boarding lifeboats.

Anyway, the usual thing is that on embarkation day, some time around 4pm, alarms will sound and all passengers are expected to get their lifejacket from their cabin and proceed to the muster station. There you will receive information on emergency procedures. It lasts around 20 minutes, and is a very important procedure.

I was on the SENSATION a few weeks ago it was raining out and the muster drill was very short. they didnt take us outside was only about 10 to 15 min...it was great 20 min later the sun was out and we were on our way...quickest muster drill so far in 7 cruises.

Muster drill is a contest to see which passengers can eat the most hot dogs with mustard, before the ship sets sail. No just joking.

When you get to you cabin, read the posting usually on the back of the door to tell you your muster station. This is where you would go in case of an emergency. You will have to take your life jacket with you. Do not blow on the whistle. They are not cleaned and you don't know who blew on it before you.

If you don't want to walk to the muster station, take your life jacket and get there early.

There will be a demonstration on the proper way to put on the jacket.

Sometimes they bring you to the life boat and sometimes they don't.

After the drill, the ship sets sail and there is music playing on the Lido Deck. The grill is open now go down those hot dogs with muster

I thought it was sardines with muster?

Oh, that's later on, when it gets rough.
