Oh no, the totally smoke-free Paradise & it's cruisers will smell it's first tobacco
smoke and hear it's first smoker's hacking cough next year. A CCL email report came the other
day. The 2,052-passenger Paradise will assume the Ecstasy's popular three- and four-
day Baja cruises from Long Beach, Calif., beginning in September 2004, becoming the
newest cruise ship ever to operate short cruises from the West Coast.
Paradise, which has operated since its introduction in 1998 as a smoke-free
vessel, will no longer retain that designation. So clean air cruisers, enjoy the Paradise'
sweet smell ambiance while you still can. How I wish CCL would limit smokers to
outdoor venues only.

Hi!

Yes, it's a shame. However, while the "Paradise" has obviously been very popular with her many loyal passengers, she never created much onboard revenue. So, to me this is a economic decision, regardless what Carnival states.

Now, the best non-smoking policy in the industry should be Oceania's: Smoking is limited to a small pool deck section and a tiny section of the observation lounge.

Best regards,

I'm sure it's true that the nonsmoking concept was not making much money - if it had, there would have been additional nonsmoking ships. Too bad, though, as Paradise was totally nonsmoking, even while being built! Once exposed, it won't be able to go back.
