The cigarette cost is dependent on which brand you smoke. Went with people back in October, one person smoked Winston, price $22.00/carton, other person smoked Marlboro and theirs were $33.00/2 cartons, or 18.00 each.

YOU ARE KIDDING RIGHT? Goodness, If that's the case, I should bring an empty bag to bring back ciggerettes. I plan on quitting soon, but I could black market those babies. lol...

I honestly was kidding about selling them when I got back. But at that price and me traveling with three nonsmokers, I guess I could get at least eight cartons through customs right? I have no idea how to find out what is allowed through customs and what is not.

this is a direct paragragh from carnival hand book Duty free allowance: For cruises that call at any of the us virgin islands residents are permitted up to $1200.00 (retail) of duty free purchases, including 5 litres of liquer per adult, of which at least one must be a product of the virgin islands. of the $1200.00 no more then $600.00, including one litre of liquor, one carton of cigarettes and 100 cigars ( non cuban) may be purchased in other ports or on board US residents sailing along the west coast and on cruises from nyc are allowed $800.00 (retail), including one litre of liquor and one carton of cigarettes, and 100 cigars (non cuban) per adult. For all other ships, us residents are allowed up to $800.00 (retail), including 2 litres of liquor per adult depending on the port of purchase. has no information about how many cartons of cigarettes I bought four, two in mex and 2 on board there are some restrictions on board you will need to go to ships store and ask what the current restriction are, before you buy. hpope this gives some insight

I usually buy 6 cartons and pack 2 in each of my suitcases. Never had a problem, but even if I were to get stopped - the duty cost is way less than the cost of cigarettes at home.
