Carnival Celebration Review
Well my friend & I are back from our cruise on the Carnival Celebration (Aug 2-6). Ports of call included Freeport & Nassau. In Freeport we just took a taxi ($5 per person each way) to Lacaya shopping center and looked in a few shops and then just went to the beach. The beach there was absolutely beautiful!!!!! Took tons of pictures. It was pretty hot so we then sat in the casino and had a soda while we played video poker. It was fun!! Freeport in my opinion didn’t have much to offer, so I would suggest either just going to hang out at the beach or do an excursion. Nassau had a lot more to offer in my opinion. Right off the ship we had a man approach us offering an island tour for $25…we were skeptical but there was 7 other people from another ship doing it so we felt pretty comfortable. It was great, he took us all over the island and even took us to Atlantis and we walked around for 30 minutes (there are places you can not go to without proof you have a room there, but we could still walk around a lot of the grounds to get wonderful pictures) and he then dropped us off right back by the ship about 3 hours later and we then just shopped on Bay Street for a few hours before going back on the ship. Fun day at sea on the ship was nice and relaxing and actually wished we had had 1 more day of just being at sea. lol Overall we had a wonderful trip and did feel that we got our monies worth, though there were some things I felt could have been better. The food in general was good, but I feel its better at Red Lobster, Outback, Chili’s etc, so could use some improving there. Also we would go to dinner at 830 and not get done till right after 1030, so next time we may do an earlier dinner so we could see more shows and such. A lot of good activities happened while we were at dinner. The deck party was wonderful, wish they would have done that every night!!!! The food at the “grill” was really good, lot’s of cheeseburgers, fries, fresh sandwiches, salads ect. Room service was really good as well we felt. The Casino was nice as was the dance club. The alcoholic drinks were ALWAYS made way too strong, I always had to ask them to go easy on the alcohol or it was undrinkable in my opinion. We enjoyed all of the shows we went to very much. Wish their gift shop would have been bigger, but it was a small ship so I understand that. Also this was my 2nd cruise and my 1st cruise had an atrium and that was missed on this ship. Overall though we had a blast and again felt that we defiantly got what we paid for. Next time we are thinking of maybe taking the Sensation out of Port Canaveral or even maybe taking Royal Caribbean just to compare them. If anyone has any questions about the Celebration please feel free to ask me

Welcome back Lindalou76, sounds like you had a good time. Get started booking your next cruise and take a longer itinerary. The short cruises are just too short. Try a 7 day, at the very least. Carnival delivers a good product, but venture out and try some different lines. We've sailed on Carnival, Royal, Norweigan, HAL, Costa, and Princess. So far, Princess is my favorite. I'd still like to try the QM2, Celebrity, and maybe even a Crystal. Oh the possibilities. Hope to see your new cruise booked soon!
5 days would probably be the longest I could go. I have a 4 yr old with special needs and I don't like to leave her for very long, even if she is at home with daddy. lol This was my first time leaving her for more than 2 days and it went well on both ends, but I just don't think I could go for 7 days without her! lol And I just don't think she is ready for a cruise otherwise I would take her with me! lol I quite like the 4 days cruises so that is probably what i will do next year as well.
Do you mean the Jacksonville bridge? No, it was raining so we were inside. But that was the only part of the trip it rained so we were lucky. It was beautiful for our 2 days in port! But we did see 2 dolphins on our way out of Jacksonville, so that was very cool. It was very brief though, we were hoping we would see more but we didn't.
Yes, when we went under it I thought the funnel was going to hit it! So glad you had a good time, I am thinking of going on the Celebration again next spring.
