Hi Everyone!

Does Carnival keep your passports for the length
of the cruise? If they do when do they return them?

Thanks

Daddy

You will show your passports when you get to the dock and every time you board and leave the boat..so keep them handy.

Hi Steve, You can show your passport if you choose. It is not required to re-board the ship. An ID and your Sail&Sign is all you need.

We only showed our passports at the check-in in Miami and again when US immigration came aboard in St. Thomas.

Typically you don't need your passports to get on and off the ship in the Caribbean. That may be different on Med cruises... I just put ours in the room safe after we board. The sign and sail card is all you need to board the ship in ports. (Bring an ID too. Some port security requires the ID along with the S&S card.

I stand corrected, as he put on his orthopedic shoes. When you get on and off you only need ID and Sign and Sail Card but you DO need passport when you re-enter the USA.

DaddyFTO, Clearly if you are a US Citizen they don't keep them and judging from the other responses from Canada they don't but I recall on prior cruises that other forgien nationals had to turn over the passport and then picked it up again at the end of the cruise. That was several years ago now, could be different and may have depended on what ports we visited

They kept my passport 3 years ago on my first cruise on the Fascination. They did not do that
any more for any of my other cruises.

When You leave the ship, and go back through port security, you will need your "Ship's ID card" - the sail and sign
card and a photo ID - A driver's licence will be fine.
