I have this category for the 8/01/04 sailing on the Inspiration leaving from Tampa. Has anyone else used this policy before and what have been your results. Were you happy with the cabin you got or would it have been better to ask for a specific cabin??

jdb91758,

If you book a garantee, they will give you that category or upgrade you. Depends on how full the ship is. Note: Booking a specific cabin is going to cost an average of $50 more p/p. However, you get the exact cabin you want. I have been upgraded 3 times on my 15 cruises. Twice I was NOT thrilled with the cabin. Once it was under the show lounge floor, another time from an inside to an outside, but the outside was very aft in the ship so there was lots of noise and vibration.

However, this did not deter me. We are booked in a balcony garantee for our next sailing in May. Good luck on your upgrade, I hope you get one and you are happy with it.

GUARANTEE MEANS YOU MAY GET A HIGHER DECK CABIN OR BETTER LOCATION WE HAVE USED IT TWICE AND WE WERE PLEASED WITH WHAT WE GOT, UNLESS YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THE CABINS ARE LOCATED FOR INSTANCE OVER THE CASINO NOISEY SHOWROOM NOISEY ETC. SO IT IS REALLY A CHANCE SOMETIMES WORTH TAKEN, fRAN

Peachcrek,

I think you just got lucky to get a higher cabin. A garantee means that they garantee you will be in the category of cabin you select. For instance if I select an "S" category, I for sure will get an "s" or better, if the ship is NOT full. I will not get a "N" which would be a inside if I paid for a suite.

Hi I went on the Carnival Legend last Oct. I booked CAT 8 Balcony Guaruntee & was upgraded to a suite CAT 11! I was kind of expecting an upgrade because the ship was sold out & who ever pays the most money gets upgraded. Last minute rates for inside cabins are cheap. This bumps everyone else who booked in advance up simply because they payed more.

Tammy,

You lucked out hon. I think it was because you sailed in October. That month generally tends to be slow.
