Help, no patches in my town!

My doctor gave me a prescription for the scop. patch but none of the pharmacies in our town have them in stock! They told me they're on back order. I called a couple of drugstores in neighboring towns, and they don't have them either. Does Carnival provide patches? Thanks!

Are you positive you really need them? We don't take anything but always carry non-drowsy Bonine. I've only needed it once and that was when we found ourselves in the midst of a tropical storm.
Anyway, if you will be cruising before your local pharmacy can get them in then take your prescription with you to the port city and have it filled there-you can bet they have plenty! Good luck and Happy Cruising! Let me know if you have more questions!

I wasn't aware you needed a prescription for those patches. In an effort to figure this out and not confuse others.. is the Scop Patch something different than those little circular things people have behind their ears?

And is the scop. patch something that can make you drowsy? I have never need anything because I have not gotten sea sick, but my youngest did on our Conquest cruise (it was really rough the first day and a half) and she got some Dramamine (sp?) from the infirmary and that helped... but she took it before going to bed, so we don't know if it would have made her drowsy. Does Bonine work as well as the Dramamine and can I get it over the counter?

The Scop patch contains 1.5 mg of scopolamine. According to the website, in clinical studies, 5 out of 6 people did not report drowsiness with Transderm Scop patch. Lots more info at the website --> www.transdermscop.com

YOU DO NEED A DOCTOR TO ORDER THEM FOR YOU, THE PATCH WORKS GREAT IT HELPED MY WIFE FROM GETTING SICK ON THE AIRPLANE ALSO NOT EXPENSIVE AT ALL BUT WORTH IT, DRAMAMINE DOES MAKE PEOPLE SLEEPY NOT EVERYONE BUT IT CAN SO GOOD LUCK.

We just used non-drowsy Bonine, and it worked great! It is free on bottom deck at Dr. office on ship. Wal-Mart has it cheap as well. No side effects at all. Good luck!

Good AM Everyone! (7-15-06).

Just a short story: We took prescription patches with us. My youngest daughter, who is 18, wore her patch throughout the cruise had no problem at all with feeling sleepy. I tried it the first day just as a precaution and I was so sleepy I nearly fell face-first into my dinner!!
Now, the last night at sea the ship was traveling pretty darned fast and I finally felt a bit queezy. Bad timing because there was a "Legends" show being performed by some of the other passengers at 10:00pm and I REALLY wanted to see it. So I slapped a patch on my neck about 9:30pm and went on over to the Taj Majal Showroom. The patch did not make me sleepy and it stopped the nausea. BTW the show was great!!
I'm gonna try out next time. Everybody is so nice on the ship, I'm not afraid any more to stick my neck out.

I wore a patch on my cruise which seemed to work well. However, I had to go to the infirmary for an allergic reaction that I had to some food that I ate. When the nurses saw that I was wearing the patch they recommended that I take it off because they said that people often have bad side effects and can also go through a "withdrawl" period after its removed. I took it off because they made me nervous but I still had the withdrawl symptoms that they mentioned...very dizzy for a few days after as well as just an "off" feeling. Just thought people should know.
