We booked a cruise 2 weeks ago and sent in the certificate and within 6 days the $100.00 was applied to our account for our labor day cruise,.. THAT WAS FAST MAN!!!
Congrats and glad to hear it!
Apparently they had so many complaints last year about how long it was taking that they had no choice but to get their act together.
Now, for those using Internet Explorer you may have to add Carnival.com to your Compatibility View Setting. I just went through this myself and that was the cure for it to work.
I cant remember so here is the question.. Can we buy these certificates as gifts for family along as we put there names on them..
I will try to find out for sure. That would be a great gift for someone! On my last cruise someone bought one for me as a gift, but I was on the cruise. I don't know why they wouldn't allow it, and can't find anything in the fine print on mine about it. Other than the recipient has to be 21 or older.
I just wanted to mention about some earlier questions about existing reservations and them being applicable. There was some confusion as to that. It doesn't mean you have to send them in or redeem them online at the time of booking. The language is "pre-existing" reservations. That means existing reservations at the time you buy the certificate. I've heard of them not being very strict at all about the rule anyway.
Dumb me got so tied up with the hurricane and work last week that I forgot to redeem mine until the final payment date late Monday night. So I paid the balance except for the $100 certificate I was redeeming. I got an email about still owing the $100. I called them and explained. They extended the auto cancellation a few days to give the certificate time to get applied. It got applied this Thursday afternoon. They were really nice about it, and that was super fast compared to how long it was taking last year.
Also I want to mention about how the OBC's get credited. I wanted to share mine with a friend that is going with me this time. I asked them to split the OBC's in the comment/instruction box on the form. They did it just as I asked.
I just heard from John Heald.. The only way a person can but these for someone is they have to be on the ship.. That is sad because they would make a great christmas gift for a future cruise.. We are going to buy one for us.. We found a good price for a cruise so while we are onboard We will buy one and when we get back hopefully the price is the same.. I am to scared to book the cruise and then cant use the certificate on it becaose it is a preexisting cruise...
Tim.. I just used 2 of them that way. I had our Magic cruise booked (for a long time) and went on a Conquest cruise and bought 2 new FCCs on the Conquest. I submitted them (final payment is due next week I think) and they accepted them without a problem. I think as long as you are before final payment you can submit them.
That is a bummer you can't buy them for someone else. They would make great gifts.

Someone on John Healds facebook page told me to just book the cruise while I am on the ship next week, and because I do this while on a cruise I will get a OBC because I did it on the ship,, Up to $200.00.. I imagine I will get $100.00 because I am booking a 7day cruise.. Has anyone done this? And this sounds better cause I dont have to get the certificate..

I have booked on board before, but it was before they started this program. That's the way I understood it to work going by the flyer. Remember if you book on board and normally use a TA, you can have the cruise assigned to them.
