Can anyone tell me if they know if the internet cafe is only opened when the ship is sailing like the gift shops or are they also opened when the ship is docked?

hi we were on the miracle in Jan. My son needed to get online to take care of som business he went down got on line was booted off at least 5 times he finally gave up got nothing acomplished they charge us 22.00 I went down after the manager got there, had to have him called twice told him what happen and he told me to bad we had to pay for the time even tho we did not get thru. I was willing to pay the connection fee of 3.95 as that is about as far as we got, so be leary of using the internet on board ship it is entirly a rip off, if you do not get through they still charge you, for you trying to get where you want to go, if there is no service available (satalite maybe?) I really do not know, I was not trying to get free time I just wanted to be compensated for the not getting through to take care of business you are better off in port they all have internet cafes and you can phone home for like 50 cents a minute, which is what he did it was a very expensive lesson I know we will never use the computers on board again

Kristin,
The Internet cafes are open 24/7. However, there may be periods of time when the servers are down and access is unavailable, but it has nothing to do with whether the ship is at sea or in port. Just as an aside, although the Internet service is available while the ship is in port, the shipboard Internet service is usually much more expensive than finding an Internet cafe at the port (they are most often right at the prot or a short distance away).

Things aren't always handled badly. On the Holiday last summer I bought an internet package but the ship had computer problems and there was no internet for the last day of the cruise. I wrote a letter to Carnival explaining things and about a month later I received a letter from them which apologized for the problem and refunded my total fee....even though I had used most of the minutes.
