Qtpie4ever939,

from the Carnival web site:

Quote:
Drinking Alcoholic Beverages:

Guest must be 21 years of age or older to be served alcohol on board. Proper I.D. with birth date is required.

Casino:

Guest must be 18 years of age or older to play the tables and the slot machines. Guests under 18 years of age are not permitted in the casino.

Royal Caribbean allows beer and wine for 18 to 20 year olds with parental permission. Carnival has been 21 for several years. Actually RCCL is thinking of changing their policy to 21 too.

Many Ports are 18 legal, and if you look old enough no one is going to ask in the Casino. They don't have anyone checking ID's to walk in.

Raoul and Dave stated the Policies.

I personally don't agree with the Policies.

I think if you are old enough to go to Iraq, risk your life and have a gun it is an insult we can't buy you a beer when you get back home.

But this is a Cruise Board and I don't condone under-age drinking.

IslandCruz- The casino DOES card for age (at least on Carnival) anyone who looks young is asked for ID. I'm sure there may be some tables where a old enough looking person might not get carded, but most of the time I have seen it.

- Jim,
The post said no one is checking at the door. I would sincerely hope they would check obvious Children and kick them out. I was reffering to enter the Casino. It is not a gate type thing checking ID's.

drinks - suck it up. The reason the cruise lines are doing this is that most "kids" are totally irresponsible when it comes to drinking.

They are doing what they need to do to avoid a lawsuit from your outraged parents when you get blitzed and fall off the ship because you decided in a drunken haze to climb over the rail so you can pee in the ocean and fall in!

If you want to go someplace you can drink your butt off, go to Mexico (cheapest place I can think of). As long as you can reach the bar with your money, they'll take it and sell you another! PLEASE, just stay off any ship I happen to be on.

IslandCruz-- i understand now.. and agree, now one checks age on people entering the Casino... I have seen them ask obviously underage people to leave the area though.

Being a parent of daughters 18, 20 and 21 I must say the security agent carded the girls EVERY TIME they went into the over 18 club (which opened at 11pm). I sat and watched for a while. Security carded everyone, whether ot not they had just come and gone recently! No matter. They checked and re-checked those ID's! (Good).
